So I fitted two 5mm white LED's into the high beam housing of my XR lihts this evening. The reason? To get duel housing illumination when I have my low beams on driving around. For those that don't know the park lights remain on when you turn your high or low beams on, so now when I have my low beams on, the low beam will illuminate the one housing, while the LEDs will illuminate the other. I've still left the factory park lights there but fitted T-10mm white LED globes in there too.
Anyways here's some pictures of what I did, which is basically two 5mm holes in the bottom of the housing (so water can't get in), jamed the LEDs (whcih are obviously soldered to the wire and have the appropriate resistors in place) in (1 LED has sanded top the other left normal to attempt to get a wide spread illumination in the housing). Then sealed up with some clear silicone (seals the holes up aswell as holds the LEDs in place) - gasket one so that I know it will be able to handle the heat. I used some Narva wire tap thingos to tap into the original park light wiring, and some cable ties to keep her neat.

overall a peice of piss job, didn't takelong to do, and hopefully should look pretty good. I['ll mount the lights tomorrow, but there's no battery in the wagon so I won't be able to test it for a little whiles...

nice work there =D too bad the first pic was extremely blurry.......unless ur focus was on the drill

btw u can also just silicon the rest of the exposed resistor so that ur sure water wont get in....just a thought

I wouldn't bother siliconing the resistors, just wrap em up in electrical tape :p.
