hey fellas
i know data_mine has done this before, but i cant find it anywhere on the forums. i have some 105 Series Landcruiser LED tail lights in the shed, as well as a spare pair of EF tail lights. now, would it be too difficult to retrofit the inserts of the Landcruiser tail lights into the EF ones? obviously doing a bit of cutting and shutting so they fit in there... and how would wiring up the LED's go? cheers fellas.

I bought some 64 LED's from ebay for about 8 bucks a pair, they fit in the normal holders and didn't require that I chop anything... not worth butchering the lights when you can buy the LED globes for buggar all.

true, i got both pairs of lights for nothing though and i have no other use for them (i think 105 series cruiser lights are like $200 each ) so i thought i might as well give it a go.

The Led Globes are CRAP and not bright enough during Sunny Days compared to a normal filemant globe, at night they are fine but during the day as I didnt want to get slammed in the rear end i tried doing this way
Cut holes in the back to fit the Led Holder in You can see the Yellow Refelctor so I am in the process of removing all the yellow plastic as the actual globes are yellow

yeah.. the first set I bought only had 24 LED's and I didn't think they were bright enough.. (so I'm adapting them to side repeaters)
The second set are 64 LED's each and face sideways as well as forwards.. in bright sunlight they are every bit as bright as incandescents... and like I said.. 8 bucks a pair.. only difference is that they are more orange than yellow, but looks kinda cool anyway. I'd sell the cruiser lights and get drunk with the money.. (or buy something for the fairmont) but thats just me.. |
