any ideas

the volt is 12( as usual ) and the wattage is 21/5 ( i dont know if that mean between 21 and 5 is fine or what)

Ive seen LED tail lights that we used to sell at work and my opinion is that if you dont have clear tail light lenses they are very dull. They were not as bright as the globes.

They should not burn out if they are used with their correct voltages.

I have a few of the jaycar LED brake lights here, in the NL ever time you touch the brake it says "bulb out" where the speedo is, even when they are working, I think you need a diode to stop that...

the reason your light comes on the dash is that the LED has a much lower resistance than a std globe, you can stop it by placing a load resistor in the wiring loom,

Have you ever seen a car with LED Indicators and they seem to flash fast,
Its the same reason,

I made a set of lights for a customer some time ago, and used over 200 LED's in the light, For stop/tail and indicator,
It was a fantastic looking light,
But was a real pain in the rectum to do, If I could be stuffed I would do it to mine,

Scotty

I Did not take any pics of it while dioning it, but it looks like a std light, till you apply the brakes or turn on the lights,

and the customer has since moved to hobart,

Thanks for being useful, now go away.

I made some custom LED inserts for my EL, way back when. And now the GT-P has LEDs too.

Here's a in-progress pic:

A sample, brightness test, LEDs on the left, bulbs on the right.

To get the indicators to flash properly, you'll need a LED aware flasher relay (Narva make one).
To prevent cruise control and 'bulb out' problems you need to present enough of a load to the circuit (dummy resistors can do this, or have heaps of LEDs)
