Just randomly had a thought while reading a Jaycar catalogue - is it possible to convert the normal halogen tail lights to LEDs?

Obviously we're looking at a lot of LEDs and resistors, but I'm trying to think of any other issues that I might of missed...anybody see any obvious problem?

Jaycar carries them as well, as do most auto outlets.

I used them about 4 years ago. They worked great right until they didnt.

They dont have quite as good light sideways - something to be carefull about for being hit from the side.

I did think about that but I was more interesting a similar style to this, where the whole lense has lights?Image

No pre-made bulb replacement LEDs are useless, nowhere near bright enough.

I did this to my EL (no long gone), and have aftermarket LED taillights for the GT-P.

I put all LED bayonet style globes in my EL..

The ones I chose had 72 LED's per globe and they are brighter than the normal globes.. more orange than yellow though.

good stuff.

It was all done on stripboard/veroboard/protoboard whatever you call it.
