Who has replaced there standard exterior globes with LED ones, and what do they think of them. Are they really brighter and do they run alot colder?

Im considering replacing all my globes on the car to led's due to the fact they are brighter and run colder which will hopefully save my lenses from fading a little bit. However its going to cost me over $250 to do the lot so i want peoples opinions and options on wether its a worthwhile transplant

$250! Thats really expensive.I have tail light LEDs and LED parkers,and all up cost me $60.I havent got to the indicators yet because i have to source an LED flasher unit.

sorry to hijack your thread, but i once bought some LED's off an online shop an i know it wasnt LED shop online but i cant think for the life of me what the name was. do any of you lot know of any others?

Totally agree $250.00 is way way too much.
Be very careful what you buy. There is a lot of worthless junk out there
You could also build your own LED bulbs.

Buy 100, 5-10000 mcd LEDs from eBay for $15.00.
A prototype board for $5.00
Find some old or blown brake/park, reverse and indicator bulbs.
Remove the bulb glass.
Cut the board in circles or whatever shape you want it to be.
Connect 4 LEDs in series (you don't need a resistor then).
And make yourself all the parking/brake, reverse and indicator bulbs you want for a fraction of the cost.

You could also remove the red lens and cut the board to fit the tail light housing. Buy some flux LEDs and create a tail light of your own and be a one off.
Like all the new BMW etc.

yeah but that price is for all my brake lights indicators parkers

I have 7 parkbrake lights
6 including front side and rear indicators
4 parkers including front gaurd parkers

Hey mavs the headlights and tail lights look good, got any pics?

Still too much.
If you can use a solder iron and use the oven you can save about $200.00 doing ALL your lights with MUCH stronger LEDs, and getting an awesome looking result.
Have you any pics of the bulb you have in mind?

I dont know if these will work . but its my currant taillights with a few working and the LED's i want to replace with

No good.
These bulbs emit a higfhly directional beam that is not visible from the sides.
i.e. your indicatior (both front and rear will be visible only if someone is directly in the 15 or so degrees of light these LEDs emit.
Also since the housing is made of metal it will restrict the side light.
Either get the ones that have a plastic side or the ones in the pics I have attached.
Pic 1 is the one with plastic sides.
Pic 2 is the one with SuperFlux Led or sides ans top.
Pic 3 shows the beam pattern.
I hope you can see what I mean with LEDs being directional.

hmm i see what you mean, ok so it looks like ill have to look for those other globes.

Due to the design of almost all head, side and tail lights today which use a reflector of some kind (be it just vacuum chrome on a bit of plastic) you must use proper bulbs that emit light as a standard bulb in order to obtain properly visibility.
Unfortunately, most of the bulbs sold today, using LEDs, like the one in the pic you attached, would be emitting only a fraction of the light you can obtain from a standard bulb.

Recently few manufacturers have realised this problem and are now manufacturing proper designed bulbs suing LEDs.
A proper designed bulb using LEDs should emit more light, use less power and create less heat.
So, if the idea of using LEDs is to be more visible, you need to search the market properly and the best thing you can do is to try them before you buy them.
Otherwise you will be a member of the 1000s of disappointed people out there who wasted good money on buying junk.
