I seem to have a bit of conflicting information on the matter.... Are 18" wheels legal on the EF Futura?

From what i remember, You're only allowed to go 2 sizes bigger than it says on your tyre placard. Mate of mine with a EF Fairy gets defected every now and then for having 19's. So he's only allowed to go to 17's.

19s are fine!!! ur aloud to go 25mm width larger than the largest wheel in the series! (xr and gt 7inch so u can go 8) and the wheel size cant be any larger than 25mm of the hole rolling diameter (wheel + tyre ) so a 19inch wheel with a low profile tyre is fine!

there fine, aslong as you dont use hub adaptors you wont get a defect for your wheels, unless you are and drive like a complete C*** and make cops want to throw the book at you

I was under the assumption you can have anything you like, providing there's no clearance issues / structural mods or adapters to compensate.
The above answers I would have thought were Insurance tolerances.

The above answers I would have thought were Insurance tolerances. Legally they have to be within 15mm of the original rolling diameter, and no more then 25mm wider then (this is an ambiguous bit) the widest wheel fitted to that series. EL GT had 8.5" so you could argue 9.5" is legal for EL. That is Vic anyway, most states are fairly similar in that regard, just different wording. No more then 2" of rim size used to be included in that, some states may still have that wording as mentioned above, I'm not sure. Either way, you really shouldn't be hassled for 18s.

i got pulled up with 20s in my eb, i said " your gonna get me for rims too big"
he said " no, rim size doesnt matter, just outer circumfrence but more importantly load rating" ended up with just the speeding fine and no canary. Even had three chrome guages on bonnet!! |

Talk about luck eboost, the guages are a defect alone. You just struck a nice copper for a change!

Yep what SteadyED said is correct, go on vicroads or rta depending on what state your in i think theres a thread stating the laws il c if i can dig it up.

Yes, as long as you run very low profile tyres to keep within 15mm of original wheel diameter.
