Anyone that you guys can reccomend that are around geelong?

2' 1/2 is fine dude, will suit the car more than a 3' too as thats overkill for a six.

get a hi-flow cat too, and a decent muffler.

what is a "high flow" cat, and the muffler is the tip?

A high flow cat will replace the stock one, it has a better flow and thus is more efficiant. The muffler is the rear box in the exhaust, same diff as a cat basically.

Most common muffler is a turbo muffler, their are many types thou. Check out the website www.lukey.com.au for more info on different types of exhaust plus sound files of them to.

Before you just slap down money on this decide what, if any, engine modifications you intend to do as you may end up doing engine mods ( eg. head porting ) down the track and find that the extractors / exhaust you initilly put on will be restrictive and you'll have to repurchase them again to suit the engine mods.
Decide if you want to just have a low and mid range performance boost or a high revving competition dragging increase. The extractors / exhaust are different for each of those applications.

Been looking around and ringing up about just a sports exaust prices from $240 to $340 (including 2 1/2 inch pipe from cat back and two straight through mufflers).
Humex was the most expensive but also the cheapest at two different places.
What is humex like?
A lukey system was $240 or $280 cant remember.
There was also Esa brand for $280.
What should i go for?
One guy said that humex is redback?
Some places said redback is s**t, but all promised the deep sound that i am after.
The tip that i am after is like $50 big 4-5'' oval shape that is shaped to suit the back bumper.

I don't know what to do do the prices sound reasonble?

thanks for your help

im also thinking about getting a sports exhaust. it came about because someone ran up the back of me and f**k up the one i have now.
i went to south geelong exhausts today and asked them about putting in a sports exhaust instead of replacing the one i had and they said it would be about $350. with the insurance company paying about $100 for the damage already done i think i might get the sport.
im not sure about the brand but i think paying $250 sounds alright
btw i have an ebII falcon-s. and my mate said that because it's a manual it will sound really good.

Get yourself either a lukey or redback for a nice sound.

Make sure your pipes are MANDREL BENT, not press bent.

Don't worry about a 2 muffler setup unless you don't want it loud, (you can hotdog it later if it is)

Splash out on your tip now and get one that's stainless, this will mean that it won't get stained unlike chrome tips.

All that aside, i'd recommend doing the whole exhaust system at the same time. This includes headers and cat.

But as was said before, what will you be happy with when your car's finished?

For my full zorst system i paid about $1100.

If you just want a nicer sound then play with cat back systems. If you want performance from your exhaust then you have to do the whole exhaust. That means extractors, cat(s), muffler(s) and exhaust. Replacing only part of it will only give you a partial increase as the rest of the system is still choked up and restrictive.
Know what you want.

At the moment gotta save cash, so i thought by spending a couple of hundred on a sports exhaust wouldnt hurt that much and give me a nice sounding car. prob go with the lukey setup from cat back with a nice big oval tip on the end for around $330 fitted.
It should sould alright on my 96 ef fairmont ghia :D

would all the systems sound pretty much the same?

Hmm well my XR sounds pretty agro when it gets up in the rev range and ive never heard ne other ford around here (victor harbor) produce the same tone so yeah im pretty stoked about that.

Personally if you are trying to save a bt of cash and dont really wanna spend a great deal on a exhaust system then just go for a Lukey or Redback bolt on system, as you said they are within the $220-$280 price range so yeah.

Usually something like that is sufficient and sounds great, then if you want later down the track get a set of aftermarket headers and a hi-flow cat.

Good luck :) Also i just purchased my new zorst tip today, however its not getting welded on till monday but i still took a pic of it, its in my gallery if you wanna have a look at it. Something different *cough* competitor *cough* thats all im sayin

Yeah pretty much decided on the lukey sports exhaust system a friend has it on his el futura and sounds nice.

thats the sort of tip i am going for (nice big oval shape) it is curved so it fits in with the bumper and dosent stick out, on my system they look tough as.
how much was it (xrfan101) if you dont mind me asking?

within a week or two should have the system fitted, so just going to head down there tommorow and check out the place.

thanks for all the feedback guys it has helped heaps.

with the sports system i will eventuly get some extractors and a high flow cat so will sound better then, but for now the sports exhaust will have to do, due to the cash situation.

there is a lukey place in geelong, has anyone been there and tell me what it is like, did they do a good job?

thanks again for all the help.
