Hey guys,

I have recently purchased a set of 19" rims for my BA XR6, they fit my car but for some reason after driving for a while the nuts holding the wheel on seem to come loose! Does anyone know what might be causing this? Also i have left the rotor covers on (the little disk that sits between the rotor and the rim) do i need to keep this on or can I remove it? Could this be why I am experencing this problem? Any ideas guys? Please HELP!!!

Thats the brake dust cover, you dont need it but if you take it off you obviousely et a lot of dust on your mags and it an be a bastard to clean. What torque are you doing the nuts up to? IIRC it should be 90nm.

are you using your original wheel nuts or the supplied ones? If they have not supplied ford wheel nuts they will work themselves loose, a few of the guys running aftermarket rims have had this issue, seems they were supplied with Holden nuts. Yep as you know, they go on but come loose.

hey i dont know what torque, i just tightened them manually. there are quite firm without being to hard. The nuts i used are the original ones that came with the factory 17's. Do i need to buy different nuts?

Yes, you'll need new wheelnuts. I had the same problem when I bought my SVOs. I needed tapered wheelnuts as the tubestyle turboblade wheelnuts didn't work quite right and loosened themselves

it depends on what type of nuts your new rims need... the taper is the angle on the end of the nut,(that meets the mag) it need to match the mags... id suggest calling the make of the mags to find out what taper they are, super cheap sell nuts in a few different tapers

Cheers Cam
