Hi guys,

Thought I would post some photos of my new matte black badges for my BF XR6. I wanted to make the car look a little more stealth without debadging it.

I saw this style on a few European cars like the Porsche GT2 and Brabus Mercedes. I thought I would give it a go and try to do something a little different.

Anyway let me know your thoughts. (click on the images for larger photos)

Cheers,
Brett.

Well you have definately made them stealth cause i can hardly see them. I think i prefer them original. Nice car btw.

Like your car XR6, same colour as mine but, like 93EB I can barely see them?
Maybe if you coloured them Burgundy/Maroon or Flat Gold? Just a thought.

I got a new set of badges off ebay. The rear badges came off ok. Though the "falcon" badge would have been a nightmare to space out and put back on the car in single pieces. The side skirt badges could not be salvaged as they warp pulling them off since they are so thin and flat.

The porduct I used is call plastidip and is a spray on rubber coating which can be torn off to reveal the chrome badges in tact under. I did not have to sand them back and make the surface rough. It just sprays over the existing surface. If I ever want to go back to existing chrome I just need to put a little slice in each one and peel off the coating. A lot of the VW and Audi guys are doing their badges with this product in Europe.

You are right the Sportivo Camry's do have the black/charcoal style badges which actually work quite nicely on them. Though on the black cars they have a white outline of the badge, which also looks quite good.

Nice idea...personally I would have made them a dark grey, not black on black, but it looks good!

Thanks guys,

The photos dont really show it up all that well, but in real life you can actually see them properly. I really just wanted to go for a whole subtle and understated theme with the car. Its definately a love or hate thing though and is certainly not everyones taste (black on black). Either way its different and I'm pretty happy with the results.

I think this mod would look really good on light coloured cars ie. white.

Cheers,
Brett.

Reminds me of all the clapped out lasers that have faded black badges.

Cheers mate....Just the look I was going for!!! Just have to start cleaning the car with dry steel wool to give it that authentic worn look.

You'll also need to fade your roof and bonnet paint, then you'll be set.
Not a fan, not a hater of it, just a bit meh. I woulda just debadged it.
