Hey guys, i was talking to a mate after i had some problems with my brakes overheating and warping my discs - I changed my braking habits dramatically, reducing 'light braking' to an occasional 'quick-moderate braking'
Now, assuming that is all ok, my brakes have lasted a good 6thousand k's without showing much sign of wear, can i modify my stock falcon alloys: I have a stock set of Falcon alloys that have black plastic behind the inner part of the wheel itself hiding the insides of wheel (brakes and diff), the wholes arent all that big, but we came to the conclusion that by taking the plastic out of the rims that we could increase the airflow into the brake area without creating too much of an eye sore. Does anyone know if this is a worthwhile activity and whether or not it will look ok? - I can remove all the wheels and put them back on within about 15mins

yer go for it, it will give it a little more air but makes it look heaps better
as for getting them off put the rim with the face up, grap your tire iron and push the plastic to the ground have fun |

A mate of mine brings up the issue of extra water getting into the engine bay and up underneath the wheels, is this an issue?
ALso the extra noise, will this be of any benefit to perform this mod?

I think just about everyone takes these off.
They make an awesome frisbee too

Only prob I've ever had with it is the rims get more brake dust on them.. They make an awesome frisbee too

Yeah theyre made to lessen the effect of brake dust, theyre pretty useless other than that and they look crap.
No extra water should get in the engine bay, the only down side is it might affect your brakes in the rain due to the extra water getting in. Least thats my opinion, i used to have stockies then bought 17" xr8 rims and in the wet it took longer to stop than with the stockos.

the heat of the brakes would clear any water out quick smart anyway!!
thats no real worry. as said, will just end up with brake dust everywhere! lol |
