I'd hate to see what a car looks like during a full body respray, in a different colour.
Btw wheres the best place to get that done, i just was thinking, do they replace all the seals, and take it all apart and put it back together?????
As in taking the engine out etc?

You only need to take the engine out of you are changing the colour completely... because I am staying pretty close to the original bordeaux colour, only body pieces like door handles need to be removed.

The respray is needed for two reasons
1) Cheap respray before I bought it.
2) Cheap paint taken repeatedly through auto car wash

=Paint Dullsville

Primer goes on today (fri pm)
Sanding Back primer - monday
Paint colour selection - Tues
Cruisin - Fri (hopefully)

Now my car is white!!! Can't handle these changes for much longer!! Walked  up the street towards the spray shop and saw this white EF out front and thought wonder what he's getting done... Got closer and went Oh, CRAP!!!  That's my (ex) bordeaux car!!! Going in to look at some paint samples tommorow. Thinking about having a bit of red pearl mixed into the factory bordeaux... should look horn.

Not as bad as it could be I think... $3000 which includes repairing and fitting the bodykit, removing any body dints/dents and the complete repray.

Full XR kit cost me $500 from a wreckers in Bayswater (Thanks for the heads-up Amber)
SVO front bumper $500 fitted

All told $4000.

100% agreement here my man, but you can't see them through the tint from outside anyway. And from the inside they are behind the rear headrests... so meh. As long as they sound decent I'll be happy.

It's being done by Paul Lynch at Lynch's Panel Refinishing in Mitcham. (Richard St I think). Ph. 9873 1399.

At this stage I can't speak highly enough of the guys and the job being done. Paul has been very easy to talk to about every facet of the job and obviously has no problem with me wandering around the workshop taking bags of photos every couple of days!!! In fact he actually suggested it himself at the beginning...

Thats a damn good price.
About a year ago I got my XR priced up for a full respray. Quoted $6600. I was going to get done all dings and dents removed (qty 4), all the seals replaced including outside window seals, door seals, every single weather seal, get the red strip replaced and all new badges. New windscreen fitted.

Basically the guy said it would like better than it did when it rolled off the assembly line. But I thought $6600 was a bit much.

When I get the car I really want then I'll pay that price.

Yeah I got quoted over a grand just to do the front end of the Fairmont (bonnet, front guards, bumper)
So I'd be very happy with the price you got!
Can't wait to see the final result, I'm sure you can't either!

Obviously by the price is it worth painting small bodykit parts as I get them or doing it all at once?

I have to ask, what is happening with the roof and c panels? The whole car is undercoated, but your roof and c panels are untouched
