I have only seen cars go back to bare metal if the paint is shagged or there is rust underneath. its HIGHLY recomended when changing colour to take it back to bare metal. i dont know exactly why but every painter i spoke to said it. i thorght it was only when going lighter but its when going darker yoo |

I have only seen cars go back to bare metal if the paint is shagged or there is rust underneath. I had the option to not go bare metal, would of been $4000 then, im payign an extra $1000 to go bare metal, theres a few shopping trolley marks from parking near work, another reason iiwent bare metal is if i get a stone chip there would be red showing underneath, plus he said its a much better smoother job if you start from scratch, one place quoted me $6000 for a non bare metal respray. I will go check the progress again in a few days, should have all the body work done and in primer. Im still thinking about getting some VY indicator flutes put in. dunno how it would look because im still keeping the door mouldings, but they will be painted, and i would get the indicator filled from the old mouldings if i was to get the new ones. Has it been done? |

Hi all, today I bought a set of VZ SS Indicator Vents, they cost me $140 should get them in about 2 days, and then taking them to the guy whos doing my car, got a call from him today, saying the whole car is in undercoat, and he needs to put a new boot lid on which is costing $150
No news how hes going with the kit yet. Added some pics of the vents in a car that has been sprayed blueprint. they are damn nice, im still keeping my moulds on all around the car and they will be blueprint aswell, so where the indicator should of been in the mould will be now filled, i thought it would be a nice touch, seeing as im spending enough on just paintjob may aswell get something custom done. Also getting the rocker cover sprayed blueprint, what else in the engine bay would look good blueprint without going overboard. I will get some more pics of the car in undercoat tonight when I go check it out.

i don't think that would be a realistic option, or it would be very difficult. The expansion tank on ef-els is part of the radiator and keeps the pressure in the system. check out on of those chromed pwr coolant reserviors for e-series. that would look pretty good http://www.awcinfo.com/secureshop/categ ... cat_id=440
