Hey guys, just finished the final coat on my indicator moulds and the colour match is correct, but the paint doesn't have that deep look gloss like the rest of the car (and the door moulds). What can I do to fix this (and give it that mirror gloss finish)?
See picture below. Btw it's just sitting there, I didn't tape it in badly, lol.

have you applied a few layers of "Automotive clear laquer?" sorta a lil hard to tell exactly with half the panel in sunlight and shade... (nice shoes btw)

What is this automotive clear laquer and where can I get some? Will it make the mould look like the rest of the door moulds? Cheers for reply, and compliment, lol.

I've already spent $50 on the primer and the paint, lol! Grrr.

yeah, a repco store should be able to help you out... otherwise mayby a "spray paint shop (automotive) might be able to supply some clear coat for you..

Would something from super cheap do okay? I have a supercheap and repco close by.

you'll need clear coat on it, then it'll need to be cut back to be very flat/shiney

cutting/rubbing compound.

You need to apply clear coat to any metallic paint.
Cutting compound is like a fine grit polish. It will smooth out the final finish. For a job like that do it by hand.

Hmmm, I just went down to supercheap and got my clear coat.
Do I have to drive back down now and get some of this "cutting" stuff? Oy vey.

Yep! but don't worry about it for a couple of days. Let the clear coat fully harden.

Cutting stuff.. Lol, surely your familiar with cut and polish? It's like 8 bucks a tin or something just need a half decent rag and some elbow grease (prolly won't find this at Supercheap auto, try the hardware store...).
But as said wait a few days until tthepaint is definately hard, as if it's nnot baked can take a little whhile... |
