Hello fellow ford enthusiasts.

Can someone provide me with the cause of the problem I'm experiencing?

My vehicle is an AU Series II.

Every time I go over a speed bump or a dip in the road I get a horrible squeeky noise coming from underneath the vehicle, this happens every time the front wheels / suspension goes up and down on these bumps. I have no noise from the back.

The noise appears to be from the front or towards the center of the car, bit difficult to pinpoint.

Would this be the upper or lower bush or both or would it be the shockies making this noise?

Any help and advise on this would be good as the squeek is becoming increasingly annoying.

Cheers

if its a squeak I'd be guessing a rubber...

Either upper or lower wishbone mounts or swaybar rubbers...

I guess you could try hitting them with inox and see if that takes the squeak out... I think swaybar rubbers are common for squeaks, but someone else maybe be able to confirm or object to this?

Cheers,
Tim

Thanks timmytimtim and ringastinga

I appreciate your prompt reply and yeah I'll try that suggestion about the spray

ringastinga

Let me know what pedders say it is?

Mine is definetly sounds like rubber squeaky but the odd thin is if you rock the drivers side guard up and down heavily a few times you hear that squeak noise, do the same to the passengers side...no squeak noise....go over speed bumps and yes its loud and very noticeable.

I'd try the sway bar rubbers on the drivers side then... if if still there... progress to the lower wishbone and then the top one...

Its nothing to be overly worried about I wouldn't think... Squeaks are just annoying... Clunks, Bangs & Knocks are things to start being worried about...

Cheers,
Tim

I know its an older model but...I chased this for years in my XB, used to drive me nuts. Looking on US Mustang sites they said its probably upper suspension bushes - I greased mine (they're hard to get to and back in the day most XR - XC Falcons had the dreaded `Falcon squeak' cos most garages neglected them) - the `secret' seems to be to jack the car up until the front wheels are hanging in the air, grease the upper bushes (and anywhere else you can get grease into) - I have no idea what the grease points on an AU are like but somethings squeaking...have a good look, there must be something similar..

There isn't any grease points on the arms... Only things with grease are the ball joints (these clunk when they wear) and the rotating hub assembly...

All mounting points are from factory rubber bushes with no grease nipples... Some people change to the harder nolathane bushes, but these are generally a two part unit that slide in each way (wishbone mounts) and meet in the middle of the holes, I find that this causes squeak in some instances because the two halves rub past each other, where the factory rubbers are one piece and pressed in (lots of inox to get them to work, so inox wont hurt anything) and not as prone to squeaking... If nolathane did one piece bushes that could be pressed in than I'd probably have a set...

No worries, thanks for that info and technical advice.

I'd like to tackle mine as the squeaks are annoying.

Lots of Inox, good thinking.

Cheers
