i was thinking of getting some rims for my car and was looking at some of the rims on fordforums.com.au. i am under the impression that they are non genuine and i have been told by a couple of people that non genuine rims can break real easy when ya hit bumps stiff like that.
What do other people think about them? Cheers. |

You cant say non genuine are bad.
It all comes down to design, thickness etc. However Ford most likey wouldn't compensate looks for strength. Any thin rim with spokes have a weak spot. They're not made to 'hit stuff' 45 profile tyres treat the rim rougher than a 65. I personally would only choose ROH rims, but then again, I have a green car and a spoiler.. so looks don't count :/

i've always heard it the other way around that ford 'genuine' rims are more prone to splitting as they are made of a softer alloy than most aftermarket rims

one of my mates has gone through 4 wheels on his BA, and when he was getting them replaced ford said it was a common problem in the late model falcons...... might also have something to do with him driving like a fkn idiot. |

One wheel i'd stay away from is the CSA Prowler. I seen a few of these rims in 16" and 17" for sale in lots of 3 cause one wheel always has a cracked spoke.

I have some ANZ XR6 copies on my EB and don't have any real issues with them. Running 234/45 17's on them. I hit a good pothole once and it destroyed the sidewall of the tyre & went flat very quickly, yet the rim held up fine.
Had the tyre & rim checked out by a tyre shop, rim still ran true without any cracks. Cheers ToranaGuy

I'd spend the money on some go fast mods first, then make it pretty.
rather have a car that has some balls, than have V8 supercar kits and bling chromies and not being able to back it up..... but thats just me |
