i believe thats still ok..
i think its called flash coating, its when you paint the clear over the top coat before it goes off completely.. ive done it many times and worked good...

Yep, could still get away with the single stage paint finish anyway- base coat without clear providing you polish it every time it starts to loose that sheen.

anyway, your finish would be a lot thicker then the factory colour it came with. they are a lot easier to scratch. take mine for instance, envy green and clear so thin you can scratch it just by leaning on it.

you are doing it right imo. i apply clear directly over the colour coat. as was mentioned before dont sand your colour coat if it has metallic. if need be you can add more clear over your 2 existing clear coats even if they have been buffed. just clean with prepsol, sand, prepsol again and clear. you are doing an amazing job, car looks awesome. i cant believe that this is your first attempt, congrats mate

Hi mate.

Thanks for ur comments mate.

My colour paint is not metallic its solid.
After applying my colour I have directly added 2 coats of clear. I then sand that back till flat and then i buff it?
When u say i can add more clear over the exiting clear coats--- well that was sanded back then buffed so i gess adding clear staright after my colour was useless?
I guess what i should have done was after appplying my colour i should have sanded that back then after add clear?
Anyway, i just waxed my car and its quite shiny now so ill wait a few months and see. If it dulls and starts to fade then ill take ur advice and prepsol it, sand it, prepsol it again then add clear for the extra protection and extra shine, gloss. :)

thanks guys.

OK you are now getting me confused....

If you painted the colour and then done the clear thats fine...
I would have added more coats of clear personally (4-5 clear coats) as you tend to remove a layer when sanding....

If it looks great now leave it....

You can always go over it again if it starts to go through later down the track.....
