Beautiful job mate.
Did you put clear on it or is that just a single stage paint finish you've colour sanded back?

looks like you've got 6 layer of clear coat on there with the mirror finish.

lol, thanks mate..

Yes, i did apply clear coat but that was sanded back so i dont know if that exercise was worth it or not?
I was thinking of just applying colour and sanding that back but dont know if that will give me less paint proctection as opposed to sanding back the clear on top of colour?

cheers.

Hi guys,

I am ready to paint some of the rear panels now and beforehand wanted to know that obviously there are going to be a few scratch marks on there from sanding the original paint back with 800wet than 1200wet. So my question is do i really have to add primer cause its quite alot of work and its taking taking alot out of me? I mean if i dont have to add primer than i wont because after i apply the 3 coats of colour and clear than i will be sanding that back and buffing it out, so hopefully after competing painting and sanding it back it gets rid of the orange peel and scratches??

Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.

BTW, the original paint has been sanded back flat with no high low spots so if the above can work out pls let me know...

cheers.

you can paint with out priming as long as you sand the paint back enough that there is no shine on it or peel off's.. so go ahead and paint

Hi guys,

Just wanted to know that after i have finished applying my accrylic colour (3-4 coats),
when can i start to colour sand? I know acrylic paint drys pretty quick but would like to know when its safe to do so?
Lastly, im double minded if i should add clear coat or not? The other roof was done with clear coat and it came out really nice as u can see in the pic, but if i get the same effect without clear coat then i wont bother?
Any help would be great..

If you have done the roof with clear I would do the rest with clear also, just adds that added depth and shine when buffed....

Nice job on the roof too.....

Ok guys, the clear is done, so how long do i have to wait for the paint to dry before i can do sanding?
I know acrylic paint drys quickly but would like to be safe than sorry.

Personally if possible I owuld leave it a couple of weeks before sanding and buffing for the paint to cure properly , sink back if its going to and for the thinners to bleed out of the paint.

pictures look great mate top stuff. Id leave it for about 24-48 hours, just to be safe especially after so much work you dont want to damage it by being eager.
Most paint takes 28 days to completely cure however after a couple days it is generally ok to touch and drive with, but with painting as has been said before patience pays off in the end.

goodluck mate and good job
