i painted my 3.9 rocker cover black (engine enamel) and it me out bloody great and i only cleaned it with petrol. i should have sanded the whole thing as the surface isnt 100% however still looks top notch. i even have mates asking for me to do theirs :D i still need to workout how to take the paint off the fins so they look stock. was also thinking of painting the raised sections another colour eg. black cover with red fins. but not sure how to go about it

anyone know how to do them?

if they come out good enough ill make a lil business and start custom making them for people in colour of choices but we will see how it goes

You could probably hand paint them with a sponge, just wipe a firm sponge dipped in paint over the top.

To remove the paint, maybe a plane of some sort, whilst its still tacky so the paint doesnt chip/flake off.

thats the effect im after but wouldnt the stripper run down and ruin the rest of the paint?

i have been told to use a scraper (some ppl use them for cooking, peeling wallpaper off ect) so im going to give it a go tomorrow as trhe cover needs to be painted again from other attempts to get it right. ill post pics for you all

To remove the paint from the fins, use wet/dry paper on a firm sanding block, then polish.

Autosol on the bare metal fins will bring them up nice.

ah ok. im sorry if i sounded rude. just reread it. i cleaned mine with petrol only as mine didnt have paint on it to start with. i will be using paint stripper on covers with paint already on them. each one will be stripped back to bare metal before being painted.
