i used VHT Vinyl dye on the drivers airbag because its what is recomended on this forum because it seeps into the plastic rather than just put a layer of paint on the item which can flake and peel off. I presume that the VHT vinyl dye can be used on the airbox as it is plastic. Its about $15 a can from Autobarn.

dont use vinyl dye on plastic
ffs! it will not absorb vinyl is porus, the airbox lid is not!!! you will need to first use a specific plastic primer on the airbox then you can paint over the primer in what colour you wish, a decent plastic primer can be found in a rattle can

i just wiped the airbox down with wax & grease remover
Then sprayed with $2 super cheap primer, sprayed a few layers of $2 matt black, then finished with $15 high quality clear gloss. |

I cleaned mine up with some degreaser + turps, gave it a very light sanding and then sprayed it with blue high temp spraypaint and it seems to have done the trick..
i would recommend though, using a proper grease and oil remover, primer and then paint though....im just a lazy tightass.
