what is the proper name for the red strips on the xr's (ef)

also i noticed on my ef that mine are flat, whilst some ppl with el xr's have the bulge on the side strip. is that for all EL xrs?

another question is ... i have the dark blue xr with red strip, has anyone painted the strip the same colour? would like to see the EF version and EL version in the same colour if anyone has!

lastly how much are these 'strips', or how much to get resprayed. im looking at getting the buldgy ones.

cheers

you could paint them your self. they do come red though. there was someone on here who had his painted, he ahd some front end work done becasue of damage and had it repaired and all painted, didnt look too bad, doesnt stand out as much thoguh without the red

the original ef xrs had high series door moulds like the fairmont and the red strip (or black if it was red) was inset into this, giving it a flat look.
The EF2 and EL just tacked the red strip onto the door directly, and makes it bulge out.

if you wanna know what yours will look like without the strip post up a pic of your car and ask someone to photshop it.
I wouldn't paint over it though, loses the standout of the xr.

both red strips are removable.

and you are better off to start a new topic titled "photoshop my ef" or something like that, not everybody will look in here.

um yeah something aimed at the dribble that ytmont wrote which is incorrect about the xr mouldings

and i added this pic that is of a navy xr with no red strips.

id also suggest you just chase some fairmont strips in the same colour as you can prob sell the red moulds for a good price

is it possible to get a higher res pic? that doesnt look to bad .... i mean the XR is noticable with the red stripe... but the colour coded strip looks good an unique.
