Hey all, please do not start saying negitive things about others cars as it will stop others from posting and need as many pics as i can get before I go ahead with anything. thanks all who have posted so far. The rear is about 5mm higher with 1/4 tank of fuel, it sits dead level with a full tank. It also allows for some weight in the boot as i found with superlows it bottoms out too much and will produce a driveline pinion angle problem (If only some one made adjustable upper trailing arms!!) |

Superlows all round. Looks a lot higher than usual due to the 18" wheels. This was the best "ride height" pic I had...

Hahaha, isn't that what you're supposed to do. |

{USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: look in my gallery Thats whiteline lows. But mine actually does handle, very very well in fact for a falcon, and is still relatively comfy over bumps and s**t. and also, dont cut springs, silly idea. and buy struts, it doesnt cost much to do things right Hi nicco, Perhaps I should clarify my interpretation of "handling". My background consists of 17 years servicing and repairing some of the finest European sports cars (Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati etc.) so in my humblest of opinions I would consider our Falcons to be at the mid-lower end of the handling scale, regardless of what we all do to them. Don't take offence, it's just a case of higher-end cars having better engineering and costing a whole lot more money. So yes, my car does handle for a Falcon. Not cutting springs? A lot better than buying another set of rears because they don't match the fronts, don't you think? Trust me, they aren't going to be overstressed or fatigued as a result, especially not in their application in my car - slow cruising! Regarding struts replacement, you are technically quite right. It doesn't cost much to do things correctly. I just kept in mind how much my car cost when I bought it and how much less I would get for it if I sold it now. I just didn't want to over-capitalise on my car with expenses that I considered unjustifed (not unnecessary, but unjustified in my car's application) . Just wanted to clear that up. First things first, i realise your not getting narky, and i hope you realise im not either. I said it handles good for a falcon. I come from racing go karts... so yeah, most things handle like a boat for me too! But still, it handles very well for what range it is in As for cost of struts, how my car sits on the road (i dont mean in terms of looks) was important to me, for safety as well as fun, and i cant see the point in doing half the job. As i said, quite cheap all in all And also, you have superlows. So as for making the height the same, you can buy ultra lows. So you can buy a proper spring which is the "right" height without going the chop On a different point, mongoose, you sure they are super lows? My lows sit with the front tyre just tucking up into the guard? |

looks higher than superlows, but the pic taken from "underneath" might help create that illusion. |

I had it on 15" stock wheels fitted for a day and they were sitting well just behind my guards. i.e. VERY low. I could barely turn my car... I don't know why, but my wheels just make it look and sit a lot higher off the ground.

So your saying the overall rolling diameter is bigger than with stockies making it sit higher.
but you would think it would fill the guards more at the same time if it was the case. Whats the size of the tyres? |

All I'm saying is that it looks A LOT higher with the mags. I don't know why. I'm running 245/40's

As fordfairmont said, overall diameter shouldnt change, so the top of the rubber should sit in the same place regardless of what rim is inside.
Take a photo of the front wheel from the side, but at no angle, will give a much better visual of the height |

Had this one lying around.
I am going to get my springs compressed a little when I can be stuffed as it is a lot higher than I would like. Like I said, the stock wheels sat level with the guards... dont ask me why.

Your car is also on short stroke shocks that have the spring saddle mounted lower on the shock strut.
