Been trying, without much sucess to cut and polish up the dull bootlid on my EF. The car is the champagne colour, paint is excellent except the bootlid has gone dull. I have some more agressive stuff to try, but I just want to see if anyone has taken soem very fine sandpaper, wet sanded the lid then polished it up? Seems to have worked on my headlights, they are very shiny. The clear coat is still good.
Cheers guys |

Buff with some tough polishing/wax compound should do it, hand polish/wont do s**t if your trying to bring up faded paint.
Hand polish will only give it that extra gloss look. |

You will need to get your hands on a Random Orbital or Rotary to cut back dull paint.
RO would be the best optionif you have not used a machine before as it is less likely to heat up and burn the paint. Cheers Dave

Hand polish will only give it that extra gloss look. Of corse hand polishing will bring up faded paint, just need good quality stuff, buff if you need to i say.

It can if you have the best compounds, its just easy to use a buff and it will take less time and effort |

So reccomendations on what to use by hand?
Have been trying just your normal cheap s**t kitten liquid cut and polish. Bought some of the paste stuff in a tin to try. Where can I get more agressive stuff? |

I've got the same problem on my EB, but the roof is worse.
Best result I've had is with the Meguiars Deep Crystal system. Came up looking like new, even by hand, but only lasted about 3wks. Used the same stuff with a Mothers Wax Attack polisher and it lasted about 2 months. Pain in the a*** by hand, had to apply & remove 4 different products (from memory) apart from washing and chamoising. Have fun

Hand polish will only give it that extra gloss look. I disagree i can polish various areas of a car with a good clean rag and a polish rag, karate kid style wax on, wax off. BUT if you hire a buffer from ya local hertz or buy one and do it in the right procedure you can't go wrong,

Dosnt come cheap, $80 for a liter of compound. Any car place will sell the stuff. Il get the names of some good brands at tafe tomorrow. Get the hand polish out of your head! Use a buff if you want to bring up the paint!!!!! |

i just done my EB, used a 7" variable speed grinder/polisher to do the job. i use meguiars medium cut compound.
remember you will need to throw something else on afterwards to seal it and keep the shine. i also use meguiars show finish. comes up beautiful. before/after |
