Hey guys, I couldn't think where to put this post, so here will do for now
I have a few problems with my Headlights. 1. The Lowbeams are dim as sh*t, but the High Beams are quite bright; 2. The High beams will flick on and off, leaving me in total darkness for a few seconds, or indefinately. I don't get it. The Shiny bits inside the headlights are still shiny and good, and the globes are fairly new, so I don't know why it's so dim. Or why the high beams would suddenly die. It sucks really bad when you're doing 110 on a pitch dark road and your headlights die. Anyone else have this problem? Any Solutions? |

sounds like an earth problem, check all the earth leads in the headlight circuit and cleen all the terminals where the go to the body etc

The headlights get their power through a circuit breaker that lives under the coolant overflow, so if this has been leaking you can imagine that's not handy for the relays, etc either.
Do as mentioned already, but check the circuit breaker connections and short out the circuit breaker and see if your lights improve. Could be the high and low beam relays as well, or the steering column stalk too. But check the easy things first as always.

Anybody have an idea on why my front left headlight keeps blowing globes? Parkers are fine, but the H4 globe, ive gone thru 3 in 4 months, the will work for a week........a month.........then nomore.........one globe pulled out had black inside, and a blistering bubble of glass happening off it, any ideas?

Hey Whiteknight1, try wiping the next globe you put in with a solvent such as metho or acetone with a rag that wont leave any particles. This will remove any sweat or oil that may be left from handling. Youre not meant to touch the bulb. Hope this helps.
Axearmor, sounds like either earth or relays to me. Check earth connections, and then try swapping relays around. The relays are behind the battery under a plastic cover, four in a row. The low beam relay is the second closest to the coolant reservoir, try changing this with the horn relay which is closest to the front of the car, and see if lowbeam improves. The high beam relay is third from the coolant reservoir. |

Dude i know exactly wat your problem is as it has only recently happened to me! Right near your battery is a reed switch inside a browny/yellowy colored cover depending how dirty it is lol. hmm... wat happened next..... damn ive forgotten i think all i did to start with was to clean it up because as it heats up the reed rises off the plate and kills the headlights. I cleaned that and it works a treat. I cant remember exactly what i did now i have to go and have a look but what you need to do is get that reed to stop heatin up which means you need to get rid of the corrosion/rust/dirt or whatever is in there. Good luck mate and sorry i cant remember exactly what i did.

Yea I've taken lots of care when putting the globes in, not to touch them at all, but yea, they still blow, I'ts really giving me the s**t.
