Hey guys, just wondering - what is the standard wheel size for an EB Falcon GLi. At the moment I have 14" ones on there but they're not stock. They were replaced before I got the car and I'm not sure if the standard ones are meant to be 15" or 14". I have a set of Tubo Blades that I want to put on and because they are 15" I will obviously need new tyres.
If the standard EB GLi wheel size is 14", what size tyres will I need so that I don't need to adjust my speedo for the 15's? |

EAs had 14s.. EB onwards had 15s.. you can swap back and forth all you want as long as the rolling diameter is the same..
205/65R15 is standard EB-EL tyre size and 15x7 is standard rim size for EB-EL Last edited by AdamN on Thu Sep 28, 2006 11:33 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

EB's came out with 14's, well my EBII has 14's as stock and have seen them on plenty of other EB's.

Hmm ok, so a few mixed responses there. Do you think if I stick with 205 (or 215) / 65 / R15 I should be fine? Or should I specifically stick with the 205, or 215 - or either one is fine?
Thanks for the responses guys. |

205 and 215 only changes the size of the width of the tyre, not the diameter of the tyre.

I have been advised to stick to 205's as they provide a more (don't really know what word to use)...secure? feeling on the road where the 225's would feel more like the car was pulling you around - if you get what I mean. What are people's experiences with different width tyres?

the wider the tyre...the better the grip...the better the launch and steering
but what i don't get is 205 means its 205mm....thats 8.2inches wide? i mean WTF? or am i reading the scales wrong here?

the wider the tyre, the more the sidewall is going to move about under load.
the car will probably have a tendancy to tram track as well, i think thats what your refering to when you say the car pulling you around. so basically its going to want to follow the camber of the road more. on 215's i dont think you'd notice much, if any, difference, even 225 wouldnt be that bad.

Yes it does! The side wall will change because the profile figure is a % of the tyre width, ie 65% If you want to find out how much try this little calculator. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
