Hi everyone,

Quick question about the factory sunroof in the E series falcs. Did they have lip welded in the roof for a seal to go over? I was talking to the guy who I want to do some body work on the falc including fitting a sunroof, but he is not keen as mine has never had one fitted. (not that he can't do it, more that he would prefer to not as he is concerned about leaks)

I was of the impression that there was no difference in the roofs between a sunroofed and non-sunroofed E series (except the f**k big hole).

Can someone who has one or has ripped one apart please confirm for me?

Cheers,
Nic

With the sunroof, all that is done is a big hole is cut in the roof and the sunroof fitted. Nothing special between sunroof roof and standard roof. E series sunroofs were not "Factory" fitted but done before delivery. Check with a sunroof specialist.

Nic, Grab the Hollandia download on here also - IIRC BenJ posted it, so search for both terms and it should come up.

G'day,

I just went and played around with my sunroof,

You shouldn't have to mess around with any wiring or whatever,

Just when the sunroof goes to close after you turn ignition off,

Push the button again, and it should open, and stay open,

Even after you turn off the accessories, and then lock the doors.

Mine's sitting up atm, used the keys to lock it.

Ray, Paul, UniAcidz,

Thanks a lot for that info guys, very handy. I appreciate it.

Justin,

I didn't ask specifically as it's part of a much bigger job I am getting him to do for me. We didn't go into that level of detail yet on cost.

Mine don't do that.
When my sunroof is open I can take the keys out and it stays open . Then when I get out and lock it, it shuts.

The sunroof won't open/close when the ignition is off.
Only way to keep it open is to remove it from the central locking circuit .

Maybe mine's already been played with, or, they introduced that in '95. Mine's '94.
I'd post a video of mine but it's a tad trivial.
Ahwell.
Something to think about.

Key still has to be in..

Okay. Assuming you's have the same sunroof with '1', '2' & 'C' buttons.
- car's running, sunroof open
-turn ignition off completely
- sunroof should beep a few times, then start to close, antenna should retract etc.
- As sunroof is closing, push button 1 or 2, or one of the arrows
-sunroof should then return to whatever option you've picked
- remove key, exit the veehickle
-lock car with key

If that doesn't work, then I guess I'm just a lucky mofo.lol.

Yeh, fairo fairo.

Mine's apparently 'factory', but maybe it was a different mob that fitted it.

Ahwell. Suck it! lol.

Do you guys get any whistling at high speeds?

Shouldn't it just be the Smartlock wire to disconnect?

The one in my NF obviously wasn't connected to that, it never shut automatically. I left it open all the time.

Roof Rack City in Adelaide quoted me $2700 to supply and fit a Hollandia factory style roof to my NL.

LOL! Not really viable when the car isn't worth much more...

Should be for the above control button in the pic - normally a red/yellow wire.
Not sure about the later series controller switch with '1', '2' & 'C' buttons.

The sunroofs are all Hollandia/Webasto/Stratos - frames, glass, motors, cabling all the same (sliding glass ones) -switch and controllers are different, but interchangeable - switch with controller that is.

They're all dealer/aftermarket fitted.

Ok Corey, i can confirm is the red with yellow wire in a bunch of three

Simply cut it and tape the ends.

This will make the sunroof not autoclose and the wire cut is the smart lock signal wire to the sunroof scu.

I am gonna rig up a thingy in my build thread over the weekend. Gonna have a switch somewhere.

Is this under the dash behind the relays ??

I had to rewire my sunroof when I swapped to a ghia loom .
When I say rewire I mean splice 1 wire into this other wire lol

Sunroof works fine .
