Hi guys, i have a question,
Do any of use no if you can use ram air on a wet day, more spacific, if an engine bonnet had vents in it that were open to dust air and water, when the engine gets hot(as it does) is water safe to hit it? what about the air filter, if i was to modify an intake to except ram air will water be an issue?

AS an example the one in the picture, presume its open to air, water from rain, will it cause a minifold to crack, or a filter to s**t up(presuming the filter was there...of course it wouldnt be)

Have you ever seen a XY GT? the had ram-air shaker did they not? they had a rubber seal thingy-whatsit with a drain on it to catch water/rain, have a look at them and get some ideas :D

u can still use "ram air" on a wet day as long as the water doesn't flow into the inlet. A foam air filter will stop "light" rain getting into the intake, but if it's dumping 7 inches in an hour then u might have a problem. re: welcome to FNQ!!
Maybe design ur intake with a low section incorporated in it so it can drain b4 it hits ur intake??

i have a metal plate taking up 1/4 of my grill funneling air into my snorkle and bugger all goes in but you need a low point before the filter with a drain hole.

look at the commys with the over the radiatior intake...i got a mate who just got one and its been raining on and off all week and its still going.

Well the theory goes cooler air gives a denser charge which in turn increases power!

Nah i wouldn expect it to, WRX's have em hay, cools down the engine or somthing or helps.
I was wondering about the car i seen on here once, it had 4 filters on the top and was open to ram directly through a vent, looked great just strucked me as an issue for rain

So did you consider tunnel ram? like a tube as big as the mouth channeling the air?
