The quarter window outer trim on the rear doors of my EL has deteriorated that bad on both sided that I need to replace them. I have had a quick look and cant work out how to remove them from the door, anyone know how to remove them.

I think the surround and rear quater windows are all one unit, so to take them out you have to take the whole lot out. To replace it, you have to replace the whole lot.

I think they are pretty dear from Ford.

yep, he sure is. its glued in. remove the trim on the inside of the quater window and with a very sharp blade slowly cut arround the edge of the window until you cut through all the glue and then it will pop out, not an easy job. if you want a pic of the trim and window to get an idea have a look in my thread "whos sick of thoes crappy exterior trims" page 3 there is a pic of the new one i bought from ford. good luck

lol. i made sure i was sitting down when i rang ford to get the price. if you get a good one from a wreck give that trim dream a go, atleast it wll stop it going crapy and grey.

I have just been quoted by a large Sydney Ford Dealership for the quarter windows for my EL.. you might wanna sit down first...... $182.50 each !! but to their defense they did say that they would not change any freight on them.

Part numbers are as follows

LH - EL F25831 A
RH - EL F25830 A

i think they might have already put postage on that as i paid $150 for the rh side one less than a month ago.

mix up some dish washing liquid and water in a squrtie bottle and spray that on the black glue before you start cutting as it helps make the glue softer. good luck mate, prick of a job.

also it would be worth getting some TRIM DREAM, this will stop the new trims going like the old ones did and it turns them nice and black.

So those rear ¼ windows were just the trims and not the glass as well?
Damn I thought it was the whole lot.

yeah it is the whole lot, the trim and glass is all one piece. the glass is molded into the trim. congrats on the fag position mate.

well your realy unsticking the trim from the door as the glass is molded into the trim. once you have removed the little interior quater window trim (3 or 4 screws) you can see where the quater window and trim is glued in place. then ya spray some dish liquid on the glue that you can see and run a new stanley knife blade between the trim/window and the door until you cut through all the glue. here is a pic of the trim/window i removed looking at the side that glues to the door. the red lines are where the line of glue is that you need to cut through. dont laugh at my crapy computer skills.

What adhesive are you going to use/have used to put the new one in with?
