I do way too much driving on the country roads so theres no way im getting rid of my mudflaps. The worst feeling while driving is when about 50 big a** stones flick up at your car! *well not the worst* but its bad!

I would hate ne one with a decent paint job to go thru the same :? Thats why i would keep em.

I felt that 2 hours after i got my FBT!
We were driving back at night from sydney behind 2 trucks, with no signs or warnigs the road changed to fresh tar/stones and my FBT was being hit from every direction from these fkn stones going 120km/hr!
p****d I WAS, slammed brakes on but didnt do too much.. at least i had the bonnet/headlight protectors/mudflaps on still at that stage, but i did get a good amount of little chips in the "was brand new looking" bonnet!

Oh f**k that would of been terrible dude! Especially at that speed as that would of done a fair s**t of damage.

It happened to me as well some stupid f**k decided he didnt want to go 25 in a road works area, so he over takes the 5-6 cars in front of him, me being one of them and pow as soon as he passed me i had big heap of quartz stones hit my windscreen and bonnet!

Ahhh i could of nearly cried  I so could of chased the little b**ch down as well but i had to restrain myself. Lucky there was no damage as i was only traveling 25kmh.

But yeah i dont want it to happen again thats for sure....i might not be so lucky next time :?

I am worried about Mavis the cleaning lady.

On topic: Surley there would be more dirt behind the wheel arches, and thus need more cleaning? Would that equate to more rust?

I'd take them off. They'r s**t. Especially the spats.

Take a look at this picture below after 4 years of having spats on.

All ef/el's that have had the mudflaps taken off after driving around with them on for a while (ie a year or more) will notice this scratch on the paint from where they were sitting on the paint.
I was lucky the fbt wasnt bad, just needed to polish it out.

Im guessing this is also the case with other models from ef-ba11

The spat just wearing through it. Its actually back to metal. I'd rather have a couple of tiny chips from stones than a fat scratch from where the ugly spats have been. My advice to those with em.. pull em off, or put something behind there.

Well where i am they have that damn reverse angle parking so 99.99% of the towns cars have had their flaps torn off by running into the kerbing.
