Dont know, but even if it is ive neever heard of someone being done for it, nor would i even be worried if a cop looked over my car without them.
I have take them off on both of my cars and its only made things better IMHO.
Just take them off buddy.

I don't see how it could be illegal. Walk into a ford showroom and buy a new car - mudflaps are optional! if I can drive out without them then how could they be illegal!

yeah it is a requirement, but like dan said youd be hard pressed to get done for it. Infact the only person I know who has been done for it was my older brother who ashed his smoke on the cop while getting a ticket, I told him he had it comming

If you don't like em, take em off! Personally I like them, they stop stone chips on your car and also the persons windscreen behind you!

Just cut them down instead of fully removing them...

EDSteve - it's all rubbish mate.

Mudflaps/stone guards/whatever you call them are required by ADR unless part of the body acts as a guard - i.e. rear quarter panel/guard.

Mudflaps are a requirement on s**t like tray top utes as they have nothing acting as a guard.

Look it up in the ADR - it's all there.

On both my cars, the 1st thing i did was take them off - HOWEVER if it were to damage my paint noticably by removing them i wouldnt, simple hey..

Ive seen some cars with lots of chips n crap up the side of the cars but i neever get any of it, i might just be lucky :P

Well how can it be illegal to not have them, when you get a Roadworthy done have never seen a box to tick for it, let alone do they check for this highly illegal mod ....... lmao

I removed mine a couple of years ago no problems and since moving to Brisbane I have had a roadworthy done to get QLD rego and no one said nothing. It could be just a state by state issue. I guess ash on a Cop like someone said could get him to bring out the manual as someone said
