Hi all,
My N9 dark blue EL has two whitish fine pinstripes down the length of the body.. I'd like to get rid of them with as little damage to the paint as possible.. anyone done it and if so... how? ta cheers Frank |

Try wax a grease remover on a old towel with alot of elbow grease.
I found this got the double sided tape and the sika flex off the side of my car which was under the strips down the doors so it should get pinstriping off. You will need to buff the car though as you will find the paint will be alot cleaner under the pin stripes as it has never been exposed to the elements. But that depends on the colour of your car and the condition of the paint.

Ta...
These things look factory.... was thinking of eucalyptus oil as I've used that to dissolve adhesive before.. Just wondering if there was any pre-fab stuff that would do it. |

Yeah ive used eucalyptus oil to remove stickers before and its worked pretty well.
A steamer works pretty good to to soften the adhesive. Not sure how that would go on paint though?

get the wifes hair dryer out and go slowly on warn to low heat will come of piss easy then go over with some prep sol or bug tar remover.
sweet as a nut.

thats what i used on an old sticker that was baked on. Best way is to grow some fingernails, use the hair dryer to soften the sticker up and pick it off piece by piece. If your lucky, it might come off in one piece but i doubt it if its a thin stripe |

oh this won't come off in one strip.. it looks like it's been there as long as the car and is pretty sad looking.

i used a hair dryer which worked alright, then i found a heat gun in the garage and that worked a treat just dont put it to close to the paint. Best to have 2 people, one holding the hair dryer or gun and the other slowly pullin it back as it heats the pinstripe up.

You can get something called a caramel wheel that panelbeaters use, will make short work of it.
Attach it to a drill, it spins and removes the sticker/pinstripe. You can damage the paint if you hold it in one spot for too long though.

i used thinners to get rid of leftover adhesive and it caused faded patches in the paint

a rubber wheel on a variable speed drill, start slow and finish on high with some prepsol it works every time.
