My el's stripes are looking well past their use by date. Any tips on how to remove them, especially the really faded, baked in bits. I have metallic paint so i can't cut and polish.
Cheers

i think its just a long sticker. Probably rub it over with some wax and grease remover and very gently try and lift up the starting edge and peel it off gently.

As XP falcon170 said, they are just long stickers, but over time they become brittle and are a huge pain in the a*** to remove. I did mine on the Lane about 6 months ago. It is very time consuming but worth it in the end. You just have to be very patient and when you get a good run going take it very slow as they break easy. Good luck and allow plenty of time. Also if you try and pull them off too quickly, you could find your paint on the pin stripes instead of the car so easy does it.

Boil the kettle mate and pour heaps of water on a small section of pinstripe at a time and it will peel off rather easily old or not. It may leave a little glue residue on but it will come off after a few washes with the high pressure car wash.

get out the hairdryer and warm it up a little
it will make the glue wet/melt again so it easier to remove |

The very best way is to buy whats known as a caramel wheel.....Attach it to a drill and remove the pin striping that way (And if done correctly it will not ruin the paint).
