Hey.

I have a tow bar on my fairmont, but I want it gone. I don't have a problem with taking it off, but where can I find a cap to cover the gap that it'll leave on the bottom of the bumper?

Thanks

No it's definetly good for those other "touch parkers" out there - keeps your rear bar intact. I fitted mine on after I bought it just for this reason and also in case I one day need it to tow something with.

I took mine off and I reckon it looks way better.
I went to ford, asked them to order a the cover piece and its about $10, I think. It is just a piece of plastic, then I went to Autobarn and had them make up some paint in a spray can that was about $16, then obviously sprayed it and stuck it on.
And it looks great, more simple and cleaner.

I was going to remove mine, untill it saved me form having a stuffed up rear bumper - working at a busy shopping center i think ill keep it as i always reverse park to make it a bit safer with the tow bar on the back ;)

tow bars are a god send! goin to the beast cruise last night my mate in front of me suddenly braked, i braked then my car locked up, i was lucky enough to hit his towbar and only have a dented numberplate, rather than a stoved rear on his car, and stoved front on mine!

still broke a few pieces of plastic inside the bumper, mainly the mounting point for the horn (which sounds funny as f**k now!) and a few of the mounting points for the piece of plastic that sits in front and above the radiator inside the bumper.

the tow-bars always come in handy in case someone drives into you anyways - esp if they dont have insurance! :P at least it protects the back of your car a lot more then wrecking your bumper...

and frank - come on man - i thought you were over the touch-parking! :P mind you, that explains all the dints & scratches on your can then eh...

I hear that too..
tow bars arent all that ugly, just get one in good shape, mines gloss black with chrome ball cover for now, but it looks clean and doesnt remind me of the old stereo typical picture in the mind of a rusted towbar covered in wobwebs n paint n crap.. you can get the whole unit in chrome now..
Looks odd on some cars tho ill agree.
