ok well ive got a ford genuine bodykit here to go on soon. thing is it came from a toxic? green car, and is going onto a sensation blue car. it was painted the right blue by the previous owner, but was a bit of a shoddy job. if you look at the back of the bumpers, you can easily tell they used to be green from factory overspray. plus it seems no primer was used, as there are a few small stone chips in the front bumper, which show up as bright green from where its taken off the blue paint. there is only like 6 or 7 of these chipps on the front, and the vary in size from about 1mm to 2mm diameter. its not a major issue i know, but can they be polished out, or would it be better to just get it resprayed professionaly? unless your looking close at them you cant tell its paint chips, from normal distance it just looks dirty.

hey mate
if the paint is gone (aka chipped off) then there is no way to polish it to bring it back (as its simply not there to begin with). Would using some touch up paint suffice instead of getting the whole thing resprayed? The other thing to keep in mind is future stone chips these will also show up as green chips if they go deep enough so obviously the best option would be to get it sprayed properly in the right colour. Also what kind of body kit is it? Cheers Phil

you drive a g6e. i think you could afford to get it painted. if it was a shoddy job the first time i think i'd personally get it done properly this time

IMO get it painted... if your anything like me, as soon as the chips show up in green it will piss you off and you'll continually say "I wish i got it painted". Also, with no primer leaves it open for peeling in the future?

would it make any difference in price to just touch it up for now and maybe paint it later if it starts peeling? wildeb, i can afford to drive a g6e as i have no kids, and no wife. i work anywhere between 50 and 70 hours a week, and invest alot of my income. although i may have a nice car, that doesnt mean i have alot of ready cash. phil its a gt bodykit. i was thinking as the chips are so small some cut and polish might do the trick?

I still think you would be hard pressed to cover it up. Give it ago, its only cheap and if it don't work then look at getting it sprayed

just get some colour matched and brush touch it-what do you have to lose?

It might be worth having a chat with Shannon (craigelink) from perth e series. Her and Terry do good work for a good price for a lot of the guy's cars. They could most likely tell you the best way to go with it.

Naaa... if you touch it up now, and then you decide it looks s**t, then it will still cost the same to have it rubbed back and sprayed. |

that might be the way to go then. lets me get over the financial sting of xmas and lets me clear out a personal loan sooner rather than later. anyone know if its an easy job or a pita job to change a front bumper? if its easy then ill put it on this weekend, otherwise ill wait till after the touch up and see how it looks.
