Can anyone recommend a good cutting compound which is good at restoring oxidised and faded paintwork, which is also safe for clear-coats? I was recommended by my local auto shop to use Mother's scrath remover followed by a coat of Mother's sealant and glaze. Worked ok for a day then the paintwork just returned to normal. I also gave T-cut a go, just the polish, but to no avail. Is T-Cut original safe for clear-coats? If it helps my car is heritage green.

You may need to have your paint stripped and resprayed, thats what I had to do on my EF XR8 in heritage green, can you post any pics up of the faded paint work.

I will post some pics asap. The spoiler and the bonet are the worst (they cop the most sun). I have considered getting it resprayed but I'd rather spend that other money on mods :( It's such a shame, it's a really nice colour when it's clean, in other words for about 2 minutes after it's been washed.

i hear ya matey .. my xr8 has mega bad oxidising on the bonnet!! its starting to creep to the side guards as well!! would love an alternative to getting a repsray as well.. The EF/EL XR's according to word of mouth around town have really s**t quality paints .

That should not be the case as FORD have used PPG 2K Paints for years and they are only getting better

Don't despair fella's, as long as you haven't had the paint machine buffed alot (up to four times) with a compound or the whole area looks like it sat by the beach for months on end, it should be easy to compound and refinish with a rotary by a detailer though sadly the good ones are harder to find now days
So many monkeys

EFNWIKD6 - happy to have a look and hopefully fix it for you and all for nought - freebie
For me it's giving that really matters, easy to take in life
If I can help people in need who don't have the equipment and or knowledge to fix the problem , then that's great
Got lots of products I don't get alot of time and cars to use on these days so glad to do it
