I've recently repsrayed the front and rear bumeprs on a project XR but as they say 'matching' is always hard....The paint is also Regency Red so it is very rich.....Now i'm wondering if i can do anything to restore the rest of the original paint as it is obviously lighter than the fresh stuff.....It's still quite good which i sthe reason i bought the car but it def aint new.....Any 'tricks of the trade' or products to richen the original paint????
It would obviously need to somehow penetrate the clear to the base so i doubt thers anything that can do that!!! |

Gee i thought the painting the bumpers was hard enough.....So you mean cut the clear right back or just a little? And do i do the fresh bumpers also??? To me if the base coat is faded ...it's faded and thers not much that can 'restore' it.....Tho i was hoping ther would be a product that can help somehow.......Might have to get a shop to do this stuff so i don't screw it up......ANd how will the clear be palced if it's gettin cut back??? Gold class is only polish which would need to be done every 12 mnths huh? Apoligies to 'GLi'!!! |

if the paint itself under the clear is faded then u cannot do anything besides get the hole car resprayed. With the wetsanding will take a slight layer of the clear coat and get all the fine scratches out therefor making it look brighter and shinyer. I think that atleast getting the car buffed first and see how that looks would be a good start!. If possible can u get some pics so that i have a beta understanding!!!

i recently used a medium cut cleaner on with a an electric buffer and it came but pretty well, got rid of a few marks and water spots. Used polish afterwards.

I reckon you should just use a light polish and it will come up like new, i doubt that the actual paint has faded.

Ultra Gloss superpolish applied by hand and left to dry for an hour would be a great help and so would Glare Micro Finish & Professional Polish

O.k guys now i'm gettin some answers i was after...Auroras 98 ...i'll be tryin to find both of those polishes now and i'm lucky enoght to have a proper buffer handy....I still believe the actual paint has 'faded' over the years but i'm hoping i can 'match it.....I got told once that the cars up North dont have clearcoat applied because the rays are so strong it ends up flaking.....that's NOT GOOD!!!!

I doubt it. Car Toys stock Ultra gloss
It's not like others, it's best to leave to dry as it's a concentrate.
