Your way of champ. Guages are put on the bonnent because they are mechanical guages and if your going by ADR's they state that no fluid from the engine bay can enter the cabin. The reason why people use mechanical guages is because they are a lot more accurate than electrical type

f**k me, why is everyone afraid of something a little different. Each to their own I say. It s**t me to tears, people running around, pointing fingers and screaming "RICE" when they see someone modding their own car, their own way. Grow up kids and respect peoples differences when it omes to modifying cars.

I realised i never gave my opinion on them.

I like as long as they are functional.

A few years back some car maker (Nissan?) made a big show about 'head up displays' in their cars.

In reality it was only an overspeed display on the windscreen, but it would be something different to have speed, tacho etc as a head up display.

rice just comes from s**t vinyls and wothless stuff added to cars, mostly started with the flood of grey imports aka rice burners.

No, not end of story. The standard factory temp gauge in my ED actually cost me an engine. It wasnt the sender and it wasnt the wiring. I holed a radiator while working the car hard through kangaroo valley, south of Sydney and the s**t standard temp gauge was oblivious to what was going on, just sat where it always sat at operating temp, meanwhile all my pistons were making love to the cylinder block in a very heated exchange. Since installing the Autometer temp gauge, I had a similar problem (bottom radiator hose). As soon as it started to heat up the HIGHLY ACCUARATE after market gauge let me know and probably saved me more heart ache. But maybe I'm just a gay ricer after all.

its your car molly dont let other people tell you what to do to ur car, it will look good with the guages give it a unique touch, you dont see any e-series cars like that, steon has a good point as well, i would rather a aftermarket guage that actually works than a s**t standard one that does sweet f**k all

it seems that most of the comments about stock guages are good enough are coming from EF/EL owners who obviously dont know how s**t the EA-ED temp guages are

like someone said bonnet gauges are for mechanical gauges where your not allowed fluid in the cabin. would you feel secure with an oil line running through your dash anyway?
gauges are gay? you spend 10k on a race motor for a falcon and your factory dash doesnt have an oil pressure gauge oil temp gauge trans temp gauge and your going to not monitor these things because a gauge is gay? your mad.
hand controller is a good idea but they are ugly if i had the money i would run a haltech or motec dash but who has that money? a few small gauges is usually the cheapest way out.
even on a mildly modified engine id like to keep tabs on oil pressure or temp and with factory ecu it aint happening. whats the alternative to that?
i drive a BA and it doesnt have oil pressure but the engine has been tampered with and i would like to know how the oil pressure and trans temp go. especially with an edit a hand controller is no can do. so what do you do then? install an aftermarket ecu so you can have a hand controller because gauges are gay? even if you did that anyway in a ba you need to have a custom dash made up because the ba dash wont work with an aftermarket ecu.

also why is a NA car any different to a forced car. dont na cars have oil pressure or something?

I dont mind guages. I would have them just to keep an eye on whats going on.

Oil Pressure
Oil Tempreture

Fuel Pressure

Water Tempreture
Water Pressure

Trans Tempreture
Trans Pressure

EGT Exhaust Gas Temp
A/F Ratio

Now do you think these guages are rice on a Mack truck or something ?

look my original post said gauges on an NA car are gay. By that I meant a stock car.
I understand they are useful, i understand you need to monitor things when you are running a serious setup that's all cool.
That said, rarely people match their gauges with their interior and they look stupid, and i think they look out of place outside the car.
