quick question. would a set of 20's on a bf xr6t 6speed auto make it any slower due to the weight compared to the stockys? any one got 20s or 19 and noticed anything?

Yeah, generally bigger rim, more weight, slower.
Unsprung weight is the worst.

my 17s are heavier than the stockies i had on and i can feel the differents.
my car used to spin of the line now because of the weight it sticks more. well its slower anyway.

its an xr6 turbo, put on 20's, then just flash it and dont worry about it being slower anymore

its not only the weight that slows it down on take off its because it has a larger diamater, more grip which equals more friction.

yeh, i doubt it would be greatly noticable on the turbo tho? especially if itz been flashed or had some slight mods... has anyone got 19's or 20's on the turbo or 8's for that matter?

The thing is, when upgrading to larger tyres, you usually put on lower profile tyres which compensates and you have the same rolling diameter anyway and this isn't the issue. If the profile of the tyre was the same you would be correct though, the larger diameter would convert less torque to force applied to the road wich would reduce accelleration.

I only notice it on a timeslip or something like that, you notice the better grip round corners from big fat tyres a lot more then slightly less acceleration from a slightly bigger rolling diameter.

FPV range comes with 19's across the board now, they're real slow, must be the wheels. A few things to consider on newer cars. - Stability control. Is calibrated for certain wheel size / grip levels. Changing wheels can cause funny things to happen with this system. Well funny to everyone but you/your pocket. - Unsprung weight, well the new BA/BF's are designed for 16/17/18/19 inch rims, so going a size or two bigger isn't going to hurt anything. - Larger rims will diminish your ride quality. If you don't like a bumpy ride, don't go bigger. Buy quality rims, seen far to many cheapies fail in spectacular fashion.
