Hello
I have heard a rumour about the BA colour Shockwave blue peeling and flaking off all the cars...
Is this true?? i know a few people with these coloured BAs and they are alittle worried now.
Has anyone else heard this?? It was supposed to have come from a bloke who works at the ford bodyshop, but, well, you know what rumours are like.

Cheers
David

Not a rumor, its a 6/7 month old fact.

Alot of shockwave cars out there getting full or partial resprays for free..

Seems there was a bad batch of paint delivered to Ford and it didn't stick to the metal so well.

Ford use tinted prima, eg shockwave would have a blue prima so they use less coats to cover the prima so my guess is that the bad patch was in the prima and not the paint itself..it would suck to be an owner of a shockwave GT and have paint flake..

I have a 06 BF Shockwave. Ford it currently awaiting the finance to be approved, and then they will respray the car metals. Plastics will not be done unfortunately. Ford tried to deny it a bit, but when pushed and provided with evidence this wasnt just my car tey were better

first im hearing about this one? i have an 05 shockwave xt. have had a couple of small pieces flake of while washing it though. (im talking 2 bits approx size of a 5 cent piece) thought i was just washing it to hard or was a stone chip getting worse. although i did have a spoiler put on when i bought it approx 2 years ago and now the clear coats lifting on that. ford say i have to take it back to the people they got to do the spoiler, its nothing to do with them. company that did the spoiler wont do anything about it either. started yelling at both of them to get it sorted, if ford dont do something shortly am thinking of contacting thier car dealers association thingy to complain. MTA i think it is. but anyways as my car is shockwave i can get the paint looked at due to it being s**t from factory?

Hi fellow Ford lovers.
My brother has 05 BA GT Shock Wave Blue and his has the paint coming off for no apperent reason just like described. I told him about what you guys have said and he has rung FPV and they are sending him to a dealer to look at it. I will let you know what happens.

its apparantly a bad batch of undercoat.
i have a dec 05 BF Turbo ute, and it had a full respray under warrenty by a local panel beater.
what the ford dealers mite not tell you is that if there is paint missing on 4 or more panels, the whole car is required to be resprayed. mine had paint missing on the tailgate, the lhs of the tub, the roof, the bonnet, front bumper and passenger door.

i must be lucky, i have an August built 2006 BF SR and don't have any paint flaking off at all, plenty of stone chips though thanks to all the friggin trucks out my way, but no flaking like described, its coming up to 3 years old now and guna be out of factory warranty soon so fingers crossed its ok

Yeah, PPG are to blame here. Ford are organising resprays as needed (even for out of warranty cars - since this affects BA2/BF models), and PPG are going get a BIG bill from Ford.
