hi guys, took the black door mould off my EF FALCON gli to find that theres a patch of rust equal to a 50 cent coin, now i plan to put my moulds back on resprayed as white, but i still want this patch of rust fixed just so it cant spread or get any worse.
Any tips? I was thinking that i could sand the rust, primer it, and paint it white with some touch up paint. Thanks |

if its surface rust you could do that, but if its terminal (right through the metal), you would have to cut it out weld new peice in and then smooth it and repaint. if this is the case it might well be easier to buy a new door from a wrecker....

i had the same prob on my car what i did was used rust killer let that set then i nocked the rust out with chizzle and hammer then gave it a couple of coats of bog then smooth then you can prime it and paint
it turned out liek new..

You could try working with fibre glass to fix it rather then weld it if you don't know how to weld...just a suggestion

take to it with a wire brush to remove flakey bits of rust and paint. then coat it with killrust rust converter ( this stuff is great) then bog, prime and paint it. ea falcon its a good idea to remove as much rust as u can b4 you apply rust converter as u dont want it working on flakey bits that are gona come off anyway.

Rust kill is great stuff, I used it on my old XE falcon, fixed up quite a few issues i had with cancer in the door hinges.

Alright guys! cheers for the replys
Since its just under a door mould im not looking for it to be a good job on the paint ( the colour is Dynamic white) So bacsally, Remove Rust, then use rust converter, prime it, and then paint it and apply clear coat over that. So would it look sufficent if i prime it, then just use a good acryllic can spray ? |
