g'day

i noticed last time i washed my car that the paint work has heaps of like circular scratches, especially around the boot.

What causes these and will they poilsh out?

Also, what the best way to polish etc, sorry but im still new to the game of owning a decent car. ive got that colour cure stuff.

Cheers

theyre called swirls and if there not very deep the bulk of them can be buffed out. i used meguires three step process to get rid of mine and in the end the car looked immac.
step 1: meguires paint cleaner
step 2: polish
sptep 3: wax

they can be found at any good retailer ie. k mart, auto barn, supercheap, etc. just look where all the polishes and waxes n s**t are theyre in like a burgandy bottle.

cheers

it can happen if your car is pretty dusty and you use a sponge. A cut and polish should get rid of them. I had them on the AU, regency red, and i used meguiars and they come out.

Automatic car washers can cause them, and so can those nasty nylon sponges you get from the supermarket. I got one of those big fat beautiful yellow sponges from Coles once. Washed the car and as I drew the sponge along the front fender, I could see these tiny scrape marks where the sponge had been. It was scratching my paintwork.
Also cheap car wash shampoos can sometimes contain very tiny miniture glass beads in them for that abbrasive effect. Be aware, they'll cause it too.

Yeah I hardly had any until I went to one of those Car wash places and used their Detergent and Water brush.
