jet xr's are the cheap "hp design" mass produced rim.
bob jane t mart, 7 day wheel and tyres, tyre express, agr, few other mobs around. i have 18s, and im telling u since these are orig they are heavy and even being heavy f**k do you feel the bumps on the road, they look good but im still getting used to the fact (controlling temper in other words) from how bloody bumpy it is, i feel a freakin 2mm thick tree branch! 20" tyres are about $250+ea, so not worth it if you get a flat, i wouldnt go past 19s and 19s are already to big.. and even then, maybe you should just get some ba gtp mkii's? there 19x8, if interested tell me ($3500 with tyres i think) |

What I am saying is that my 16's are too small for a brake upgrade and I want to go the whole hog if i'm changing wheels. My insurance company dont care as long as its engineered. And this is a company registered car that I can bill it as that, not out of my pocket, and I dont drive the car that much anyway. Now back to the original question, does anybody know where I can view different syle wheels other than the Tempi Tyres web site. in that case i'll put it bluntly you're only gonna need 17's for a decent set of brakes, so anything more is just showing how big a wanker you are and fuz, $250 for 20" tyres? yea...... for s**t ones!

Finally, some people who are willing to help instead of just tell me that they would look crap or it should'nt/could'nt be done.
Thanks sickd, LG & XRated. Those big wheels look trick on the JET XR. Looking on Wheelzboyz, the options are many, and it going to take a while to sort out which have the correct stud pattern and offsets (or what size hub adaptors I will need). There are so many hot styles to choose from. Thanks again fellas, much appreciated. BTW, I think it must be that time of the month for Interceptor or something (either that or we must all be wankers for liking big wheels). He definately has a big wheel complex. Maybe he should try some hormone replacement therapy or something. **Modified**I had better leave it at that, dont want to get personal and too nasty.

what brake package you going for??
is it off a 747? But seriously if your doing it just for the brake pakage and say your going for the 330mm discs then there going to look small on the 20inch rims. just my 2 cents

Just looked in your gallery, nice wheels stevo. 21". i'd luv to know what size rubber is on them, and if he had to do any guard mods (rolling, etc.) to fit them in. And for those others still going on about the brakes: I have to get bigger wheels to suit a planned brake up grade anyway, so I figured that I may as well go for the bigest and badest ones to start with rather than getting a set of 17's and then deciding later on that I want biggers wheels and having to buy and sell again. Not because the brakes are that big that they will need 20's. I know that the rotors are only 330mm. Hell, I will probably get the 20's before the brakes anyway just for looks. I never expected to get this much attention out of this topic. But thanks again to all all of those who have offered advice and constructive criticism. Any one with any more links to info on 20's will be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

*drools over JETXR*
Same rims im gettin on da same car... wish I had a kit like that tho :O Shadow chrome with polished lip is much less showy tho, thats my option Style minus the rice factor. Just to double check, 18" rims are legal on an EL without needing to be engineered ?? |

when i read the write up on JETXR in street machine, i remember it saying that he had problems with fitting the 20" rims on, also there is a EF XR6 in geelong with 19's and he had drama's with his suspension chewing out his tyre. i think JETXR looks awsome with 20's on it, but on some cars will look overkill, but if you want to do it go for it

just reading the street machine that featured the JET XR car.
JET XR has the BSA 20x8.5 rims, with 225/30-R20 tyres (as per article) AXR88U in the article is says in order to get the 20's to fit (quote from street machine) "we had to modify the front stub axles and use narrow 225/35 tyres to make them fit but i'm just about to put wider 245 rubber on the back" and i also reckon, if u got the $$ and r keen to do it, go with the 20's, it will look alright i reckon.

Oh well, here's my 2c worth....
I don't sem to know what everyone's problem with big wheels is? Seriously though dude, you may encounter a few problems with the rims, i've had to lip my front guards to fit my 19's on, so they don't hit the bodywork, the rears are fine so far after 15,000kms. I only ever come into a problem when i have 5 people in my car doing 110km/h and hit one of those long sweeping bumps, then my rear tyres hit the rubber strip on the inside of the rear guard. Thats running 245/35/19's on the front and back, but the back tyres are stretched to fit the rim (its how i bought them), so they're probably close to 265's on the back. Thats with Super-Superlows all round. No real drama, but any lower and any bigger rim and you may come into a few little problems that probably aren't worth it! Dave |

and you must be feeling the need to compensate for something...... more inces in your wheels to compensate for a lack of inches elsewhere perhaps?
