i duno the colour code mate, my panel beater just painted it according to the ford colours, i just left it up to him, for the front and back it was $1900 and he had it for month!! He is quite a perfectionist so hence it taking so long/costing alot but i think the end result was worth it

Nice mate, your rear bar fits really nice! How much did he end up charging you? Also didnt you get the mesh for the top grill with the kit?
Also nice work getting the XR headlights, i was wondering if you got ur kit to fit XT headlights or not. Where did you pick them up from, they genuine or aftermarket and how much?

They are of course not close to genuine but they are so much cheaper. Word of warning though you pay for what you get. Stay away from Phat Custom Kits, they sell cheap crap and you will have a very hard time making it fit nicely. I am very interested to see where Bongo Kongo got his kit because it looks perfect. SSV make really good quality, i just bought the BF GT front from them after my other one got smashed. Check them out www.ssv.com.au
Cheers Phil

Yeah ssv all the way mate, i just bought the front bar off them for for $605. The front bar is easy to fit in theory but with all aftermarket kits they usually dont fit the best so it helps that someone with experience does fit it so they can make it work. In my opinion i would pay for a pro to do it and do it once the right way, your car will look better for it.
Yeah postage will be a bit but i did find them rather reasonable ( i bought front bar and bonnet and delivered it for 40bux, it was only Sydney metro but i thought it woulda been heaps more), i think you would be up for a bit over 100bux for delivery

If you don't there is a 95% chance that the Kit will have to be modified after you have finished painting it,, which is a No No. Took me a day with the dremmel to get the bumpers to sit perfectly like they do, and you must have that small gap where they meet the body or they will crack & break. (EDIT:Tape some plastic spacers to the body so you get the gaps just right). Once you have done that and made many adjustments to the fit you are ready to take them off to start the preparation for painting. (EDIT: You have to reduce the thickness of the white plastic impact crap (with an Angle grinder) that sits behind the bumper too or you will have no chance of getting them to fit.) I got these from Repliglass in Redbank Queensland & they where absolute CRAP. They cost $1200 for what you see in the photo's except for the stripes & the bonnet. (The kit included the driving lights & Grill mesh,,,, but only a quarter of the necessary holes where drilled) The fiberglass was so thin that the rear bumper cracked sitting in the back of the 1 toner taking it home. The front bumper needed heaps of fiberglass added so it would meet up with the guards and I had to re fiberglass the inside on both bars to give them some strength. I don't even want to talk about the Wing, it was a nightmare. It had holes, un-cured Gelcoat, even small splits which took a lot of work to fix. The factory finish of these things was covered in super thick undercoat that was full of holes underneath. (You don't see it until you start sanding them)All up it took 2 months to get to the stage you see in the photos & it should have only taken maybe 3 weeks. I would never get Fiberglass if I had to choose again,,,NEVER!!. Pay the extra and get plastic ( I wish I had) it will end up being so much quicker & with less problems. If you scrape these fiberglass abortions just once you can easily wear them through,,& I mean just ONCE! They Crack super easy too. These Repliglass ones are absolute SH!T & and i would not recommend them to anyone. The company is a two bit hillbilly run concern also with no backup. The owner is a paraplegic & he seems nice at first,,( but to me anyway),,he was a wolf in sheeps clothing. |

all i can say is WOW i thought i was hard done by with the issues i had but what you did was crazy!! would have never thought you had that many issues with the end result looking soo good. It will be interesting to how much hassle i have with the SSV kit but on face value it looks much better than the one from PCK.
Plastic is always the way to go but i inquired how much a front bar was from Ford and it came to 3.5k!!! the side skirts were just under 4k for the pair and I would imagine the rear bar would be 3.5k as well, so not really an option to buy the plastic genuine bar. I havent been able to find anyone that makes these aftermarket kits in plastic, its all fibreglass but then there is varying degrees of quality Cheers Phil

Check out the thickness of the products first & if they are paper thin then tell the KIT makers you want an extra thickness of fiberglass added, you will pay a little extra but if they are anything like mine where it will be worth it. I have seen some really brilliant Jap crap Kits that are thick & strong as! So I don't see why they can't all be made that way. EDIT: The actual Repliglass molds are good but the people who are doing the work is where the problem lies. I think they must get their workers from Centrelink & most of them look like they are straight out of school with no hands on experience. It's crazy because In this game you need experience, & plenty of it! I am an older guy & I am a Spray Painter by Trade & I have worked in 5 of the biggest Ford Dealerships in QLD. I spent the last 8 years working in the Aviation Industry (Planes) so I have had plenty of experience with fiberglass. You would be surprised at just how much fiberglass there is in an aluminum plane, each one has at least the equivalent of one of these body kits fitted to them. Each wing tip, tail, nose cone & a sh!tload of other bits & pieces are all made of fiberglass & there always cracked or broken. |

LOL thats crazy, yeah the kit i have bought is nice and thick, the issues i had wasnt with the thickness of the kit, it was all the shape not fitting nicely. This one from SSV seems to be much better quality though. Will post up pics once its all done
