Some pics re: mods to my brakes.
In an effort to keep the big mofo's cool on track days, I've added a few extras. Brake ducting. Pipes cool(ing) air from the front bar right to behind the rotor hat. All up about $160, two lengths of silicon tubing from Revolution Racegear. (it is actually brake duct tubing, heat resistant) To prevent heat getting to the brake fluid potentially boiling it, titanium pad shims. Titanium is a pretty good insulator of heat, keeps the huge heat out of the calliper. This was about $170 all up, $77 for about an A4 sized sheet of 0.5mm thick titanium, $88 to get it water jet cut (I supplied CNC files), plus some postage. IR thermometer testing after some hot laps showed an improvement in both rotor temp and calliper temps after these two mods. Callipers about 150C cooler, rotor temps about 100C cooler. yay! And for scale, new pads front (and rear) next to a regular size can. Fluid is important when racing, as it's got to stand up to extreme heat. The best fluid around - bar none (this is the stuff you'll find in the garages of F1 and V8 Supercar teams). The highest dry and wet boiling points around, compatible with regular brake systems (unlike silicon based DOT5 fluids). Priced to match, at about $100-160/L (best and worst prices I've seen) it's miles ahead of anything else in cost. Castrol SRF. Finally braided lines, very important for maintaining pedal feel/confidence when things get hot. The FPV heavy duty lines are pretty good, but not as good as braided. (no pics of those sorry). For those thinking of a GT/GT-P have plenty of $ for maintenance, It's about $5k to do a brake pad/disc change using Fraud Spares. I get my stuff from Race Brakes Sydney, using better gear, much cheaper, but still expensive. Front rotors ~$300 each (DBA 5000 replacement rotors only, I forget how much the hats were) Front pads ~$420 a set (Ferodo DS2500) Rear pads ~$250 a set (Ferodo DS2500) Rear rotors ~$230 each (DBA 4000) Luckily, even with racing, I get pretty good mileage out of everything. The GT-P's get 134,000 k's on it, only recently change the rear rotors and pads for the first time (they were kinda warped rather than used up), and on the 4th set of pads, and 2nd set of rotors up front. NEVER penny pinch on brakes, tyres and suspension. They are after all the only things keeping you on the road. Speaking of tyres, my shed: Semi's are 245/40R18 Toyo R888's on Speedy Cobalt wheels (the only 18's that'll clear the 6-pot Brembos). Drag's are Dunlop racing slicks* on BA XR 17's (they just clear the rear 4-pot Brembos). I'll go to MT ET Street when these wear out. *Not sure exactly what they are, just say Dunlop on them, got them second hand.

here is the finished product of mine, full happy with how it turned out, i highly recommend buying from SSV, you pay more for it but end up with a much better end result. (sorry pics aren't the greatest quality, my mate set the camera to a s**t quality setting)
