Decided on getting 17's. Didn't want to go too over the top. She is still a daily driver. Only cost $1500 new fitted and balanced with 245x45x17's and that also included freight.

Considered lowering but she scrubs out now everytime you go into driveways because it's so long.

LTD right? Don't you have that little compressor that raises and lowers the a** end of the car? If you take the fuse out, it'll lower itself... Kinda like a cheap hydraulics hehe..

........... Hmm, what a useless post.. I don't why I said that... but hey, my mate had one, and that was awesome hehe... then again, small things amuse small minds.

"Haven't done a lot of mods yet". Are you kidding! Most guys would never consider doing up the interior and body striping to the extent you have. Good onya for having a go! Not my colour but each to their own I say! We all have our own taste. Yours is definatley unique.

Actually an NCII Ghia Fairlane.

It does have self levelling suspension which is the compressor you speak of. It is not manually adjustable as far as I know. It is just meant to keep the car level when towing heavy loads (or fat assses in the back). It is actually not working at the moment which is why it looks lower in the a** end already. My mate is a mechanic and it is in the shop today getting checked over. It has pedders suspension in the front already and if we can't get the self leveller sorted, I will be doing away with it and installing pedders in the rear as well. Will probably consider lowering all round at the same time.

id just get rid of the SLS.. its a pain unless you tow everyday, i replaced mine with shock (my hoses had a leak) and the ride is nicer. and also lets you lower the car. if you lower it with the SLS in it apparently it s**t itself

The SLS is going. My mate checked her out yesterday and found that the air boots in the shocks are split. Cost to replace with ford factory items is $200.00 each shock. Because the boots are split the compressor keeps trying to lift the rear end and after a couple of attempts it fails and displays the Check Susp. failure light on the dash as well as that annoying beeping from the trip computer. Every time we drive it at the moment we have to hit the reset after about 5 minutes to acknowledge the failure.
Will be putting in a good set of gas shocks and lowered springs all round. Open to suggestions if anyone has already been down this road.

i have been there done that.. just remember in a fairlane your springs = 1 set lower then a falcon. for example falcon LOWS are fairlane SUPERLOWS, i put "superlows" in mine and it sat 70mm off the ground, so id sujest you buy "lows" and it will sit about 2" lower then factory (aprox where your back wheels are now if the pump is turned off)
