This is my engine bay as it sits at the moment

na no cover for the filter yet..
im looking at making something out of plastic to shield it from the heat..

but yes its illegal to have an exposed pod but so is the supercharger..(kind of)
im not to concerned about it at this stage..
ive had police pull up next to me at traffic lights and the supercharger is whuring away and they just looked the car up and down smiled at me and drove away..
other than the sound of the car there is no reason why they would pic on it..
