Any ideas about how to simply remove over spray from a car.

I have a BA XR6 which went into a panel shop to have the holes in boot welded up and the boot resprayed. The vehicle is Harvest Green in colour and because of water restrictions here in South Oz have not been washed for a while. I washed it this morning and to my dismay wondered why the chamois was leaving unusual marks all over the body work. On closer inspection found silver overspray all over the cars exterio including rubber. It is a very fine overspray and I have tried to use a fine cut polish to be rid of it but to no effect.

Any suugestions apart from going back to the panel shop? Why would I after they caused the problem and probably unlikely to be too happy to rectify it. My preference is to do it myself.

Mate try using a clay bar. You can buy the clay bar kit from supercheap auto for about 30 bucks, it really cleans the paint well.

Clay bar just removes any dirt etc on the paint. It comes with "quick detailer" and you spray that on the paintwork to lubricate it, then clay bar over the paint. Theres not much prep work to do, just wash your car first. If you polish it afterwards the paint should be as smooth as glass.
