dude if u get a skyline dont body kit them i dont look twise at riced toyed up cars if its a plane skyline dumped with bolts and the spoiler taken off it would look a hell of alot beter also there not to bad on petrol but when you hit boost they guzzle and the problem with boost is u get addicted so it ends up very expensive
if u want power and economy cars with ca18 and sr20,s go good and pretty economical under boost aslo dude i dragged my cousins r32 with the normal mods bigger turbo 3 exhaust cooler exetera i was beeting him all the way up 2 110 the first time then the second drag he bet me by a bit but at about 160 i started to catching up 2 him heaps until a car pulled infront of me and i had top pull away falcons boot too

*shakes head*
if you dont know the difference between skylines and lancers and want to buy on the premises of fuel economy i suggest you stay away from both. lancers - evo is the one with the turbo, awd, power. skyline - come non turbo but why bother.... please dont be another person who buys a skyline and dumps it on chromies... at least try to fit the bill of a jap car with coilovers and enkei's rather than king supers and d'vincis. i suggest the echo is for you my friend. on the other hand if you have 10k to play with, my mates civic cost 2.5k, b18c engine swap cost him 8k, and that thing munches a turbo skyline. 1.8 liter type r engine in a light car, great performance and good economy. |

Vtec. I wanted the same things, and decided undesireable fuel economy is cheaper in the long run over sky high insurance prices and screamable fees for servicing. I own a Honda, parts are fairly expensive in comparison to my ford, but economy is good, save in one area, blow out in another.

Yeah thanks heaps guys, i know i've gotta sacrifice one for the other lol and since im getting more hours at work ill sacrifice the fuel.. Think ill just go back to the old plan EF Fairmont, dump it, spray it, chuck some mags on it, kit it in the future then 5L conversion when i can afford it, thanks again guys.

5Ls are barely any worse then the 4Ls.
I've found they are better on the freeway.

When I said that fuel is the least of your worries, I didn't mean go get a V8/don't get a V8.....whatever, get what ever you like, but my implied message was, somthing simple that might not get that 8L per 100km but is still within your means is always a safe choice.
My daily was cheap to buy, cheap to service, cheap to get parts, on par with my ford for insurance, and, gets me 8L per 100k in the city, usually giving the loud pedal (or not so loud in the case of my corolla ) a nice stab every now and again.

Bah, if you're after fuel econ and something different, get a Mk II Escort, toss out the stock engine, and drop in an SR20DET or soemthing like that. Would be ok on fuel if you're not flat to the floor all the time, and would whip so many cars on the road now, also can't beat the old school looks of one of those, dropped on it's guts with a nice set of old school simmons, and nobody would know you're packing a more modern engine unless you popped the hood or had a huge intercooler visible.
But at the end of the day, nothing wrong with the Falcons and a whole lot less hassle too... |
