Yep, GT scoop is going on. I'm picking it up this arvo.

edit: and here it is (only temporarily fitted, I think I'll fibreglass some bolts into it to fix it to the bonnet rather than just using sikaflex)

Love the paint job Hyena, the whole car is looking great.

Just a thought re- your grill issue.... Can you still get the Fake EL GT Grills??
If ya can, would that be an easy option to keep the bonet release standard, and just have the GT Grille attached to the bonnet?
Sounds way to simple....... so you prob been down this road and hit a dead end, but just a thought?

Cheers,
Adz

That front bar originally had the GT grille moulded into it, but I didn't like it so I had it cut it. So yeah, no GT grille :P

This is how the bar looked originally with it

Yeah,
I see what you mean. It doesnt really fit it very well.
Sort of Sticks out a bit too much.

From reading your posts, I think your best bit is the spring loaded grill.
Reminds me of my LH Torana fuel cap cover (the license plate at the back of the car folds down to acess the fuel tank)
I guess the hard part is making it look nice and flush.

Good Luck dude.

very nice hyena!
Bit of a dilemma with the grille hey.. I wonder how much it would cost to have something custom moulded onto the bumper? Perhaps something like EFFalcon's grille would look great? It suits his car well.

I'm not losing any sleep over the grille at the moment. It doesn't look tooooo hideous as is in the short term - well, I don't think so anyway...
Mind you my short term could very well end up being a good few months
(look at how long it took me to get all the kit fitted and painted!)

I've spoken to a bloke who's going to make me a custom fibreglass grille when I get around to it - I just have to decide how I want it to look and how I'm going to get to the latch. I don't want to mould it into the bar because then I'll have to repaint the whole bar...

Finally got around to fitting my HIDs and a few other goodies over xmas :D

Also took the front bar off, sprayed remaining white parts of the lower engine bay/radiator surround black, meshed up the front bar and made a 3/4 attempt at finishing the grille. What's pictured has to be revised to neaten it up a bit (make it darker so you can't see all the moulding behind the mesh but that's about how it'll look. Those with a keen eye will also notice the new badge :)

Image

You can't really make out much of the HIDs of a day, but they're pretty much exactly the same colour as my white LED parkers which is cool from a uniformity point of view (it's about the only thing on the car that matches :P )

Image

But of course, there's more to come
