I was just wodering i recall you saying the a**end of it s**t way to high the rear bar that is, to the side skirts? i was think would the tickford rear skirt fit onto the bar? do some extra little moulding again, wont hurt.. but thats the only suggestion i can think of to make the back end a bit lower..

ive also at the moment puttign the GTP side skirts on, so it should look good,

cheers

RUSTY!

i reckon rusty may be on to something, could it work? might just make up for that high rear, or at least even it out a bit, could be worth taking a look at, i like the way u think rusty lol

Already thought of that, and then dismissed it :P
I don't like the stuck on look of the tickford rear lip, and that aside it wouldn't go well with the rest of the bar (particularly the back which is complicated enough as it is) and I don't think it'd fit anyway.
I'm quite happy with the bar from the rear but it's a but low at the sides.

edit: see this pic, it'd look silly with the tickford lip tacked on

It was actually designed to be used with tickford skirts, hence the rounded moulding in the side of it is meant to match up with the door spats that come off the top of the skirts.

cheers mate, man of many ideas.,

Nah, but i think it would be worth a try i know im putting the Tickford front and rear skirts onto my EL Fairmont Ghia, and the GTP side skirts, and then just mould the front and rear skirts into the bars, so it looks like a complete Bumber bar, if you know what im trying to say?

will post pics when its complete, lets hope for the best,

cheers
RUSTY!

sounds interesting Rusty EF.
aslong as the bog or fibreglass that u use doens't crack i can see it lookin prety nice :)
not sure how the BA skirts will match up with it, they're pretty squarish compared to the EF/EL kit, but the more EF/EL's with BA side skirts the better :)
the selection of eseries side skirts is quite poor!

haha, sadly yes sadly that's how I've been driving around
I had the full kit on for 2 weeks when I first got and fitted it and for the rest of the time it's had just the front and rear bars in the grey gelcoat. The rear bar has been off since last weekend and and it's progressively getting covered in more patches of primer. It's hard because I only get a few hours here and there on the weekend to work on it (if at all!), so progress is slow and I look like a houseo in the mean time! :P

I thought I'd post a bit of an update seeing as I haven't done so for a while.

I've got a new bonnet now to replace my old one that was bent up a bit. It has a few dings that need bogging but they'll be easier to fix than trying to repair my old one.

I've decided I will fit the EL GT scoop, not for the looks but because I need the cooling (high compression engine gets pretty hot in traffic)

More bog and primer. hooray!
After going over it with a fine tooth comb I didn't realise how many little dings there were in it!

Progress has been pretty slow with everything else I've had going on but I finally have the date set for the respray - it's 4 weeks away :D

In the mean time I need to:

* Grind a little off the front bar where it joins the guard under the blinker so it fits perfectly (or atleast better than it does now. haha)
* Grind, bog and smooth where the original moulded grille was cut out of the front bar
* Fabricate some sort of a mesh grille replacement
* Cut holes for bonnet vents/scoop in new bonnet. I think I better practise cutting holes in the old bonnet first!
* Make up some bits to extend from the bottom of the sideskirts up the rear wheel arch
* Finish bogging up the little dings in the body

It's getting there, and after nearly 6 months of driving around looking like a stooge it's finally all coming together :)

Its comming aling very nicely, im still deciding between that kit or the tickford lip for my ef. Atm im leaning towards that kit, but not with the ba sides.

Give or take :P

I've been playing with the grille and it looks like I'm going to have to do more cutting and shutting than I thought.
I got hold of the plastic bit that runs along the top of the headlights and down under the grille from a fairmont, but with my new grill in place I can't get to the bonnet latch to open it because it's in behind the mesh.

Image
the white part in behind the mesh is where the bonnet release lever is

At the moment, it looks like my options are either to weld a rod onto the underside of the bonnet release latch and extend it down into the lower air dam so I can operate it from there, or make a surround frame for the grille and fix it to the bonnet so it pops open with the bonnet (in which case I'll probably need a fairmont bonnet release/catch thingo as well ?)

I could also get a boot release type solenoid and have make it operate electrically which would be kinda cool too :)

haha. Actually it wouldn't be that hard to have it fully open electronically and I could even do it by remote control, but this is my daily driver, not autosalon or pimp my ride :P
