Ride: sony scorcher

Im a new member on this site so i thought i would tell you guys a little bit about my ride. Most of you may know it already. It is called the Sony Scorcher. It started life a 4 door EA GLi Falcon sedan. Street machine magazine heavily modified the car in the late 90s and used it as a promo/ project/ giveaway car. The project was sponsored by Sony Australia. The car was converted to a 2 door. A 5.0l motor was fitted with a whole stack of Edelbrock goodies. A 5 speed manual tremec gear box was fitted and a hydratrak diff. EL GT brakes front and rear. AC delco engine management system. I found the car about 6 years ago in Victoria. The paint was falling off the car, one window was broken and the trim was falling apart. I brought the car home to Sydney and Drago Ostric (the guy who won grand champion at Summernats a few years ago with the Gemini wagon) from Sefton smash started the bear metal rebuild on the car.....8 months later after tidying everything up it was time for paint. Owen Webb mixed the paint to the original formula and sefton smash put the final coat of paint on. Next stop was DNA motor sport. A F1 procharger was fitted with a big front mount cooler. Next stop Scott Kuhner at Insight Motor sports. The boot floor was removed and a fuel cell and twin 044 motorsport pump where fitted. Further engine mods where made and the fitting of an Autronic engine manangement system with CDI direct fire system. The supercharged motor dynoed at 517 bhp. On the road with this much power the Hydratrak diff and Tremec gear box s**t them selfs. Over to Australian Race Transmission where a 2 speed power glide, transbrake and b&m shifter was fitted. The Hydratrak was replaced with a modified XR8 diff. Now to fix the interior that was falling apart. A mate of mine who is a trimmer removed scorcher interior including all the original Sony equipment. He retrimmed the whole interior in black leather and cloth. All the sony emblems have been kept in original condition and have been retrimmed in orange. All the original Sony equipment was reinstalled and still works.....

Nah mate, they are made by raccoons and pig tailed rabbits.

Contact Paul Madden- 0408 236 355. I can verify they are a high quality kit, and I'm very happy with the job he did on my front bar.

Great to see the Scorcher still going strong!

Awesome to see it kicking back around and even better to see it here.
Would be great to see it on a cruise one time.
Is the few rumours I heard in the past about the some of the things done on the car were not exactly to a high standard but just to look good?
Dont mean to start a s**t fight but it is something I had heard and have wondered about and after doing a full tear down and bare metal rebuild you would be the person that could either confirm or deny it 100%.

Looks awesome but and good to see it coming back to life.
Maybe you could consider starting a build up thread in The Garage?
Im sure it would be quite popular!
Looking forward to meeting one day.
